So I finally manage to get my car and well since I couldnt find one where I lived I imported one from japan. This is the car...

Subaru WRX STI turbo charged adjustable suspensions etc ... its a cool az car but the problem is that it came with a DVD player and an LCD. Now I know what ya'll might be thinking how can that be a problem, well the thing is everything on that is in japanese and I cant change the language to something that I can understand and play DVD's and stuff on it.

So here are the bunch of numbers on the DVD players and LCD and I'm hopin someone will be able to help me out in changing the language in this thing so I can actually use it. Plus I dont have the remote for that either so it should be fun trying to figure this out for me lol.

I tried googling it but well not really knowing much about it kinda pushes me back on this one so much help is needed and will be appreciated .

One of the problems you may run into is that the DVD player could be coded for Japan instead of the US/Canada. That would mean it would only play DVDs coded for Japan and not ones you get here in the States. One possibility is to go to the local Subaru dealer and ask if they can trade out the player for one coded for the US.

Nice car, by the way!!! LOL I loved my Subaru that I had BK (before kids).

hmmm thanks for that DD. But you forget I live in New Zealand lol. I love this car too man. I'll get more pics of it later. Its got a polycarbon fibre bonnet which makes it more visible as well as a none standard spoiler...

But yeah if someone can help me change the language of that and help me play DVD's with it, it should be cool man. It can play DVD-R and RW so i think the code thing shouldnt be much of a problem

OK, my bad about forgetting where you live, but the issue will probably still remain. Even though it'll play DVD-R/RW formats (computer generated DVD formats) you'll still probably have issues with Regionally coded commercial DVDs that you may want to play. The US/Canada is one region, Europe is another, I know there are several different Regional codings for DVDs and just don't know for sure if Japan and New Zealand would be the same. If not, you'll run into problems.

Quite true. But If i can change the language I can find out for sure if the DVD's will work or not. I don't really want to spend too much money at the moment since I'm still paying off the car. But later on IF it doesnt work then I might trade it in but yeah if I can get it to work then why buy something else lol

I wasn't suggesting you BUY anything else, God knows what you had to have spent on that gem. I was suggesting that if you have a Subaru dealership handy, they would probably trade out the DVD player for you to keep you as a happy customer. Just let them know what happened, they were always good to me (of course that was 15 years ago).

The only problem is that its a used car instead of brand new man. I dont think they would go for it but i might give it a go if I cant change the language and stuff man

I didn't understand that it was used... you're probably right that they wouldn't go for it, but you never know...

These look more like serial numbers than product numbers..
See if you can find it printed on the front, or on the safety sticker, or, if when you got it from Japan, the Japanese manuals are still with the car, look for it on that..
Then try to re-Google it, and see what you find. Oh, and do post anything else you find too.. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

May seem like a dumb question...

But, what makes you think you can change the language..?

Sweet whip btw, I bet that baby will fly...If you can't find any information for that radio online in english...It may be Japanese all the way through...Your best bet is to email a rep from the company and ask them, they'd know better than anybody...And then you should know if you can swap it for an English model...

Realistically, I don't think that Japanese is that hard to understand, you might be able to figure it if you find a similar radio in English and matchup the markings...
