Programming Requests

OK, well, until I can get a proper server for aquabeta.net (not that I'm saying WebTiger is a bad hosting service, it's just I need quite a few customizations to the Apache install, and other apps on the server), I won't be doing much development (other than writing an EPG XML generator for Australia, and a new uploader script for the site - A, I'm waiting on your decision on what theme file we're using..).

So, because of that, I'm open for business! Post your application development request (can be in the following languages):
  • C#.NET
  • VB.NET
  • PHP
  • MySQL (well, only with PHP scripts - otherwise I'm sure raum can help you there..)
  • UI Design
  • Some Graphics Design (otherwise hire x3n - he needs the money /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />)
  • HTML Page Design
  • Icons (these most likely won't be my own though - they will be Open Source, and my name won't be on them, so don't worry)
  • System Design
  • And I'll be willing to give Java a shot, however, I hold no promises - I've never tried it before
    • All applications will be branded with the aquabeta.net logo, and with "Written by me" and "developed for you/your company", all on the About box or similar, unless a small fee is paid (hey, I do need an income - I don't have a proper programming job - yet) except for icons, graphics design.

      So, get thinking! /:D" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt=":D" />

defining a user-defined portal...

am i the only one who knows what a user-defined portal is?

It is where you let the user select the content on their own portal.

Just like your portal who!!!

User Features
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Members Can Choose Their Own Layout
2. Can Choose The Ordering Of The Available Blocks
3. Can Choose 2 Or 3-Column Mode
4. Ability To Enable 'Quick-Deleting'
5. Members Can Move The Blocks 'Dynamically' Around The Screen
6. And Other Stuff For You To Check Out Yourself!
except you also let the user create a box which basically inserts an category for external web page into the available layout of their own portal. Like Ayhja has his home page in the portal here:
It is really as simple as insrting a webpage such as this, which would be handy for MY purposes:
http://www.ferc.gov/
The only thing is you would have to put size constraints on the sub-frames on the portal. and if he linked the google search there to his home page, and i could define this portal, i could have the shoutbox, a search engine, my favorite parts of the forum, and work stuff all on one page and take off the pics, "recent topics," NSFW stuff and things that may not be why i come to the site... Thsi creates a user-defined portal and lets me make the portal work for me and... That way I don't have to run all over the web.
and all you have to do is know there will be 4-5 or however many ads on it, and make an option "Limit my ads to work-safe content"
hebrew html compiler.
easy little application where a input text takes english equivalents of hebrew letters (according to popular font), and displays the html script for the actual characters that you are trying to display.
would be infinitely helpful to VU, and will probably make the whole hebrew element of the work i do easier to communicate via the forum.
This should actually be easy enough, and I can easily get you the list of the character mapping.
For the portal, that shouldn't be hard, for inserting webpages into little boxes, I'll just use a couple iframes..
However, the Hebrew to HTML compiler sounds quite interesting and something I'd really like to work on, lol
Almost finished this EPG ripper, so I should start work on one of em soon /:D" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt=":D" />
