Ok, I did a quick scan and didn't see this topic. This is my first topic, so go easy. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> lol
I was waiting at the bus stop today, and I turned and looked at the hard plastic seats that they sometimes have. On the side I noticed a sign that said, "You just proved that bench signs work."
Now, I'll admit that I was a little ticked that they caught me... lol But it got me thinking... did they really catch me?
I mean, the whole point of advertising is to seduce people into using their service or buying their product, right? If you don't use their service or buy their product, did the advertisement work? I would say no. But the bench sign suggests that if you read the advertisement, then it did work.

Well technically advertising was intented to inform but as the markets became more corpratised and more competitive it came to one single intention. Advertising works with instilling ideas into peoples minds. Whether they buy a product or not simply is a chance that they are willing to take but they want the idea in the consumers head.
If they personally dont buy it then word of mouth might work by the people who watched the ad's telling about it to someone else and then they would buy their products.
As long as they pass on the idea that their product has so many advantages and is desirable to have, they have done their job.
So coming back to your question in my opinion the ad actually did work.

ABSOLUTELY THIS WORKED!
The sole purpose of advertising is to generate awareness,and interest within a consumer base,.. It doesn't even have to be positive awareness - on the basis that interest in a company generates revenue gains for the company, in terms of sale, or value of stocks.
This was clever, and you told us about it. It worked. They caught you. You spread the meme.
You are not their potential client, you are the customer base that their potential clients want to reach. They just demonstrated they do reach the customer base of their potential clients. you better believe someone somewhere either saw you, will tell someone you looked, or will look because they saw you look.

Indeed...
And if you were a business man looking to advertise, you'd be considering hard bench advertising...In comparison to some of the other advert techniques, I doubt any of them could return the number of views...I would say that it definitely worked...Cause you just might see AYHJA on one of them shits one day... /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

That was a great idea by the adversisers part. Advertising is suppose to be catchy and unique. They want to catch your attention and keep it. That's why everyone likes the 'ING' signs on benches. It's catchy and different.

If you even remember a product's name....the advertisment worked..... Gieco....I'll NEVER use that as insurance....but they got some good commericals...and when your commericals are spread the next day by people at school....you know its good..and its definitely served its purpose...
Thats why so many comericals provide a number to call and get info.....no one expects to attract actual customers from it....they want to reach out to the potienal ones...get them to call...and if they chose to go with the product..then so be it....if they dont....at least you have them semi-interested....
I just came off a business course where we had to think of a lot of commericals...and I'm good at it....its actually a field I was thinking of going into in college.....

Yea, I'm thinking about going into Marketing particually Sports Marketing so I love talking about advertising and business. Where you looking at going to study LG?

I see that same thing used in the newspaper classified ads around here. Usually it is one of the small box type ads that say something like: Small ads work too or you wouldn't be reading this. Contact us for rates.

It worked. It created Brand Awareness, which is one of the most important points in advertising. You know it exists.
