The Seahawks will win Super Bowl XL

As we all know, Pittsburgh is a team playing with a chip on its shoulder, a team claiming it gets no respect, a team of blue collar lunch-box-toting unknowns who simply play tough football.

All of those thing characterize the Steelers this year, and they're all good things, but they're not going to be enough.

Seattle is none of those things, but neither is it a team of superstars destined for NFL greatness.

What Seattle is, in plainest terms, is a machine. The sum of Seattle's parts is far greater than their individual value. They simply have everything clicking on both sides of the ball. Holmgren has finally assembled his Frankenstein, and for this post-season at least, it's operating every bit as effectively as the beasts he constructed in Green Bay and San Francisco.

I like the Steelers, but they're overmatched this time.

Seattle 38, Pittsburgh 16

Pittsburgh produced Franco Harris, Terry Bradshaw, Joe Greene, Jack Ham, and Jack Lambert.

Seattle produced Bill Gates.

Reverse the scores.

I think the reason the Steelers will win (and I'm a Seahawks fan) is simply because of their running game. Pittsburg will
pound the ball against the undersized Seattle defensive line and will eventually wear them down. Time of possession will be
a major factor in the win.....Pittsburg will hold onto the ball for a long time and keep the Seattle offense off the field.

I'lll even go out on a limb and say that Shaun Alexander won't get to 100 yards against that defense.

I hate to say it but the Seahawks are overmatched and haven't played against a team that plays the Steelers style of football all year.

....read the NFL predictions thread.....theres this discussion already going on..... RIM seems to be ignoring it now that I've actually produced stats....

and how dare you say the Running game will be the deciding factor in the game when the Seahawks have the best runningback in football

I mean...do you even know what you're talking about? Or are you just a building up the Steeler's D because of what you've heard?

the Seahawks have allowed less rushing TD's..less 20 yard rushing gains.... Steelers have a .2 yard per carry advantadge... but they haven't faced the league MVP yet.....

Alexander (best RB in football) vs Steelers Rushing D (3rd in the league)

Bettis (Contimplated retiring last year..and isn't even the best RB on the team) vs Seahawks Rushing D.. (5th in the league)

Advantadge..... Seahawks....

Well, I'm not really a Seahawks fan either, but I'll admit to being caught up in the local excitement here.

It's interesting that some contend the Steelers will pound the ball, which they haven't done in these playoffs. I think Seattle's "undersized" DL has far more foot speed than the Steelers' does; that's why they the led the league in sacks.

And if history wins Super Bowls, the Browns have more rings than I can remember.

pittsburgh gets this one, far as i can see.

right now, just something about them... their game is so solid it doesn't matter if it is transparent. They don't evenhave to fake it to make it. Seattle has better variety and in many ways a stronger game, but they are all over the place, so they are not going to effectively focus themselves on countering that one Play when it comes home. it's like when a man playing a simple solid strategy whoops a man at chess that has been reading every book of chess strategy he can get his hands on.

the other thing is if Seattle faces a complex strategy when playing the stihhllers, there hasn't been much to study this season.

but I know shit about football, i just read the Art of war.

.....the fuck? Was that supposed to be funny?

I'm defending the Seahawks......if you're gonna state the game will be decided by the running game...and then say the Steelers will win...then wtf have you been watching all year?

I'm a Steeler's fan man...I'm going to pick them to win regardless...I think they have an overall better team, and people forget that they lost games when Ben was hurt...His record as it stands is 26-4 over 2 seasons...Damn, that ain't bad...All the Steelers need is a THREAT to run, and Big Ben will go lights out on them just like they did the Broncos...I think the Bus, in his last game, will have the greatest day of his career...

SA will look human, and The Bus will maul over Seahawk defenders like nobody's business...But Ben is the key...If Ben plays well, like I know he will, there is no way that the Steelers will loose this game...These are two VERY similar teams, I just think its the Steelers time this year...

See...thats what I've been looking for....I'm hopin the Steelers win too....but the only reason I would favor them in the game is becasue I like them better....statistically...there is NO REASON at all as to why they would be favored to win in a 4 point spread......thats more about what the NFL prediction thread was about...please...go read that...I even hit up the statistics on that one...
