When did God get such a bad rap?

It should first be noted that I do not believe in God. I do not pray, and I do not go to church. That being said, this article is total bullshit, and not just for the lame comparisons he makes between Bush and Hitler.

"Bush also always wears a prominently-placed American flag pin on his lapel, just in case you forget where he's from. I can never help thinking of the image of Hitler wearing his quiet Iron Cross on an otherwise plain, neatly-tailored uniform. Neatness and patriotism for the cameras instead of troops sloshing through human blood."

He's bitching because Stephen Harper, leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, has been ending his speeches with God Bless Canada recently. In the article he says:

"Even among today's Christians, God does not have the same meaning to everyone. To a Pat Robertson, God is someone who destroys communities with hurricanes when they fail to recognize the truth of Pat's preaching. Pat's God is also someone who sanctions the assassination of democratically-elected leaders who happen to oppose American policies."

So, because one asshat makes some outrageous comments, no one else can discuss God? We're not allowed to even mention His name except in the privacy of our own home? Give me a fucking break.

The rest of the article the guy spends bitching about the States. Big surprise. It seems to be a favourite pastime for Liberals over here.

GOD BLESS CANADA!

God gets that bad rap for not representin for his peeps, that's why!

If the dude came down in chariots of fire and separated the followers from the bitches that keep droppin his name like they all tight with him...shit will get resolved. Instead he spends his time testing our faith by putting bones underground makin everybody think dinosaurs existed.
To top it all off, because of gays and the war against christmas, now "we" get Tsunamis and high gas prices.

I still get tripped out when I read people that don't believe in God, ESPECIALLY people that spend time dipping off into the galleries...I have NO DOUBT creatures like Monica Bellucci were sculpted in the hands of someone immortal...No athiest can look me in the eye, behold Monica, Renata, or something similar, and deny that something beyond this earth left their mark on that...While I don't know either about chariots of fire and nifty little Acacia wood boxes lined with gold, I know hot ass when I see it...So, I'm gonna have to ask you to give God his props K, if for nothing but being misunderstood by some really fucked up humans that think a divine presence put on their houseshoes for them this morning...

That said:

George Bush, author of two wars which have killed more than a hundred thousand innocent people and the champion of an ugly set of repressive laws in the United States, says "God Bless America!" every chance he gets.

Does this guy not know Dubs will push the button on his ass..? He some kind of sadistic prick that likes to get a rise outta people...Fuck him..!

You know...I resent that bullshit!!!!
What do YOU know?...what is this shit about me spending all that time in those galleries? man, I passed maybe once, by mistake, looking for the word of the day thread and BAM, I get labeled a porn hound...what is THAT?!

And for the record, I had made the suggestion that those Gostosas were perhaps engineered in underground labs in Brasil by a global team and funded by the Japanese for the purpose of accelerating our race to perfection and subsequent colonization, what better place to do it than the lungs of the earth?. You, on the other hand, make an ass of yourself suggesting that they were somehow designed by a god or some other completely implausible explanation like that...pshhhh...

* "God bless America" works, and it sounds catchy, that's that...Bush isn't the author of anything besides poor phrasing.

What pisses me off is this line:

"Some might say Bush uses the line because he has nothing else to say, and I don't doubt this is part of the truth."

Bullshit! Anyone who knows anything about Dubya knows that the man is deeply religious. This is not just filler for him; it's not a "slogan."
