Hey all need some help.

My PC has been working fine til tonight wen i turn it on, i go to "my computer" n my dvd rom n burner are both gone.

I use device manager n they there isnt even an option to look at CD-Rom n they are no where to be found.

When i press the open button, the cd rom n dvd rom open n light up but the damn pc just wont detect them....

ive googled for like 2 hrs reading different things but none have helped....

thanks in advance for your input....

Luckily for you, the admin to this site is a bonafied hardware whore...

The first thing that you should do is acknowledge if this is a windows, or a hardware problem...I am gonna go out on a hunch and say windows, but its best to confirm before troubleshooting...

When you reboot your computer, go into your BIOS and make sure that both of the drives are present there...If they aren't..? You need either a new drive, or a new motherboard...

But, if they are both in the BIOS, report back here with your findings, and we can take it from there...Starting with the version of Windows that you are running, and whether or not you've installed any new software lately...

That reminds me, I gotta get MY IDE cable replaced.. pulled out the cable from the HDD.. the entire plastic plug came out, leaving the pins in the socket - had to pull em out with pliers.. lol
