Joseph P. Smith told the court that he started using heroin at age 19 and abused drugs until the day he abducted and killed Carlie Brucia in February 2004. "I remember thinking it was wrong, but I couldn't stop," Smith said of taking the young girl's life."

Yeah. It's big news here in Florida. The SOB abducts this girl, sexually abuses her (she's 11 remember), then kills her. Now that he's been convicted and recommended for the death penalty, he suddenly gets a conscience and cries and moans that to kill him would be traumatic to his family. TOUGH SHIT! I'm just sorry they've done away with Old Sparky here and have gone to the "more humane" lethal injection. I kinda like the image of this asshole twitching on the chair as his scalp, arms, and legs burn from the 10000 volts passing thru his body.

seems to me that his kids would be more traumatized by keeping him alive. Having a heroin addicted pedophile for a father does not sound like much fun. Can you imagine the taunts on the playground?

Call me old fashioned....But I just like being responsible for what the fuck you have done...If you can't be a man in life, be a fucking man in death at least..! And you know he's getting fucked over double time in jail...Shit by the time Big Rio Sparks get through w/his asshole in a notorious soap dropping incident, death would probably be a welcome option...

High or not, he was aware of his actions...And, he has severely scarred another individual for life...Drugs are a cop-out for not wanting to be a man and take responsibility for his own actions...I think killin him instantly is letting him off the hook...Lifelong torture is my preference...Till he begs for death...And still more torture after that...

too fast and humane for the likes of this asshole. I suggest putting in a wood chipper feet first, then when all is said and done, you could render his fat, make a candle out of it for his parents if so desired.

put him in a cell with a big bruiser with at least a 10 inch big one.give the big guy the most potent drugs that inhibit sex and violence and a steady supply of viagra. that way he can experience everyday what he put that 11-year old girl through.
