Ok, lets try this again... I'm looking for a dog to buy in the near future. I want something small because I hate big dogs. lol The dog in this pic looks nice, but I don't know the breed. A few people are saying it looks like a Yorkshire Terrier.

What about this terrier? Any idea of the specific breed?

BUT...If I had to get a little bit of dog, I'd get a cocker spaniel or something...They're cute...Cuddley...But ultra fucking aggressive for a small dog...Gotta love it when the little furball is in the park talking shit to a Rott...

Kramer, that looks like a Cairn Terrier to me (1st pic) rather than a Yorkie.


I suppose which type of terrier you have depends on your circumstances. A Jack Russell (like Jim Carrey had in the Mask), a Cairn or a West Highland Terrier (westie) are all hard working durable dogs, but can be a bit on the snappy/agressive side. I'd avoid if you have young children.

The best Terrier bet if you do have kids would be a Border Terrier. Although they are "working" dogs (i.e originally used for rabbiting and hunting) they have an excellent temperament with kids.

I just did some reading on the dog, and though they are easy to train, apparently they can become destructive and bark excessively if you don†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¾¢‚¬Å¡‚¢t pay attention to them. They also tend to do a lot of digging.

The dog I†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¾¢‚¬Å¡‚¢m thinking of getting is the Norfolk Terrier. The only problem with the dog is apparently they can be difficult to housebreak.

Have you looked in to any of the new "designer dogs"?

Specific cross matches to create minimal to no shedding and hypoalergenic traits...
weird names though: schnoodle, spoodle, labradoodle, etc...

When I was boarding a few years ago, my landlady had a German Shepherd that looked like an Ewok, serious!


When my parents were deciding on getting a dog, my father only wanted a "real" dog, not some fluffy little yappy toy.
and he was set on cattle dogs because he reckons they were the only ones that didn't bite him.

That's a nice looking dog, Pete, but I'm just not a fan of big dogs. I never have been. Probably has something to do with the fact that I lived beside a drug dealer for a couple years, and he had two pit bulls. lol

I don't blame ya about that. Pit Bull dogs are banned from the state of Queensland, too many cases of vicious attacks.



My father got bitten by a German Shepherd when he was a boy, and ever since then he's been shit-scared of them and all other dogs. He wouldn't even come out of his car when visiting people, if they had a dog in the yard!

He started to feel safer around them when our family looked after my aunt's Apso Lhaso-Maltese terrier for a month- only a little thing. Then he remembered back from his childhood that his father had a blue cattle dog that was friendly to him- and therefore also considered that breed to be "real dogs (and of course because they are working dogs.

He's still a bit wary of German Shepherds (even the one my past landlady owns who looks like an Ewok, who is also a complete scaredy-cat), but now quite okay around most dogs.


Ruby ain't that big, in fact she's a bit tubby in the belly- sometimes I call her "pot belly dog" :mrgreen:
I'll post a pic one day (if I can find it) of me holding her, so you can how big she really is.
