I havce a few fitness questions since I just started working out a couple weeks ago.

I'm going for size. Need to get bigger, ya know? lol

SO first question:

Will jump roping everyday make me get smaller or make my muscle mass growth slower?

In my diet, what should I watch for? (I'm going for a high protein, low sodium, a lot of vitamins type of diet..)

What foods supply a lot of protein? (I heard Tuna Fish does!)

Is mixing steel weights and sand weights a bad idea?

Sorry I missed this..!

Yo, so, what kinda of size are we looking for..? Overall..? Bigger ams, bigger chest, etc..? How big are you now..?

Truth be told M8, getting massive just isn't in everyones genes...It is possible, but you'll have to work hard as fuck to just get massive...

My advice is to get fit...Tone, and sculpt as much as possible...And then when you lift, go for max...Rather than work up, work down from your max work out lift...

So, if you can do 2 sets of 10 of 150, but not 2 sets of ten of 160, start at about 155, and work your way down to about 135, removing 5 each go round...

Most people thing working out like crazy is what helps you get huge, this just isn't true...When you are getting bigger, what you are essentially doing is tearing down your muscles and building new ones...Give your body time to recoup after each workout, I would recommend lifting on say Tues and Thurs, and on Saturday, do mostly cardio and calisthetics to build stamina and burst, along with strength...

Doing a steady routine of pushups each night is also good, maybe 50, in the forum of
20 > 2 minute rest >
15 > 1.5 minute rest >
10 > 1 minute rest >
5 > Finish

Thanks.

I been doin greading and that's what I do. I ain't big at all. 5'11, 150lbs.. Skinny.. I've got some definition from football and shit, just trying to get a little bit bigger so people ain't saying I'm tiny and so I look a little better.
lol

Thanks on the push up stuff. I was going to ask if doing pushups everyday is a bad thing and if I should only do them on chest work out days because I do 120 pushups a day (60 when I wake up and before I goto sleep, 1set -25, 2ndset-20, 3rdset-15).

Again, thanks Ayhja.

Appreciate it.

I just think that all too often, people equate size with strength...Bruce Lee was not a very big guy at all, and...I doubt I'd want to seem him in a fight...Some of the strongest people I know look like you could knock them over with your grocery buggy...

Push ups are great man, and if you really feel good about shit, do some of those inverted joints...

I also do my pushups on my knuckes...And don't forget to vary your stance, do some w/your elbows tucked close to your side, some with your fists spread far apart, and some with your fists close together...I also (or used to /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />) do 'diamond' push ups, whin which I shaped my hands into a diamond on the floor, and slow burned twenty, putting my nose inbetween my hands each time...

If it is available, I'd stronly recommend taking up boxing...It will kick your ass, but in two weeks you'll love the workout...Not none of that Tae-Bo shit either, but real boxing...

If you can do 120 push ups a day, you are in good shape, maybe just not big. I take it you are already a member of a gym. If you just want to concentrate on getting bigger and gaining strength, stay will the mass exercises; bench press, squats, leg press... Is there any part that you are trying to develop? There are different exercises if you are trying to develop specific parts of your body. Cardio will not affect you building muscle mass. You just have to be careful not to overload your body so the muscle gets a chance to rest and repair itself. When trying to build mass, if you can do more than 7-8 reps, you are not doing it right. The weight should be sufficient that you will reach overload at about 8 reps. Anything more then that and you are working on conditioning. You also should vary your exercises about every 4 weeks. Same muscle groups, just a differnt exercise to work them.

As far as diet, protein is very important. Yes, tuna is an excellent source of protein. Chicken is also, make it is skinless though and not fried. You would want to probably take protein supplement. They are excellent now and there are some that are not very pricey. Personally, I like optimum nutrition products but there is still EAS, muscletech and others. You may want to consider creatine. With creatine, muscletech is considered by many as the best. However, with creatine, you have to be very cognicent of your diet because besides muscle, it will make you retain water possible fat.

The biggest thing to remember is that you won't see results right away. There will be some people that will tell you to just add weight because as that goes up, your strength and muscle will automatically grow also. Afterward, diet to loose fat and get ripped. This is extremely unhealthy and I don't recommend this.

I am not sure what your meals are like but if you are serious about you need to eat about 5 times a day. Cut down on your portions. You must have fuel in order for your muscle to grow. At least eat 4 times, breakfast, lunch, mid after noon snack (fruits) and then a sensible dinner.

PLEASE REMEMBER, these are general advice and eveyrone's body is different. Plus, I don't know if you have any medical conditions so you need to be careful.

Appreciated everyone.

Yeah. I do vary my pushups. lol It gets too boring doing the same ones and I feel "uncomfortable" when I do one form of pushup cause I feel like I can be working the msucles a little bit better with other ones.

Dopey, thanks for answering the protein question. That was my biggest concern cause I know Protein is an important thing when it comes to muscle building. And thansk for the tip on Cardio and changing exercises every four (or so) weeks.

And Ive already been looking for a boxing gym or w.e. to get into that kinda' shape cause that's what I'm looking for. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

And I'll get back to you people onthe diamond pushups lol. I haven't did them in forever.

Peace
Billy
