Cowboys slam the Tigers 32-12!

Last night I went and saw North Queensland Cowboys and the Balmain Tigers battle it out at Dairy Farmers Stadium in Thuringowa (Thuringowa is like the Oakland of Townsville).
These were the two teams in the 2005 Grand Final. The Cowboys had been gaining multitudes of success over the past few years (despite being one of the crappest teams in the prior 10 years), but ultimately got beaten by the Tigers.
Stadium was PACKED! Took 10 minutes just to cross the road intersection! It had been raining so our shoes were covered in mud while walking from the backstreets were the cars were parked. Everyone was either at the stadium or at friends houses for footy bbqs, eyes glued to the tv.
Fireworks were let off, and thankfully the rain held back for most of the game, but still the ponchos and anoraks were on the ready.
Whistle blows and the game is on!
By half time it was 26-2 to the Cowboys. Poor ol' Matty Sing was out wide waving for someone to pass the ball, hoping to dive through the widening hole. Thankfully the ball shoots over and he rams right through in an amazing try!
Jonathon Thurston was brilliant and got most of his conversions. Rod Jensen & Gavin Cooper also moved up the tally with their great work.
(Some photos will be posted later on- some good shots).
The poor ol' Tigers did play okay, but the 97% humidity got to them, and also the tough Cowboys defence.
Final score was Cowboys 32 - Tigers 12! 8) 8) 8)
Afterwards I went over to my cousin's house and watched the game all over again! (delayed broadcast).
Here's the official story
