then, what's the big deal?

I was saying the HEATED DEBATE over a piece of colored cardbards choice of words was another reason to avoid the place.

hell, the resturant i ate in last week has a huge whoppin chrstmas tree Christmas carols, and I even got a stocking,

I didn't sign a petition to outlaw christmas or nothing. and I do commemorate the solstice as a time of reflection and i love the time off work to spend with family and friends. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

i don't hate Christmas,.. damn i watched miracle on 34th street last night.

I hate stupid debate, whether it be attack or defense, over defending or attacking shit like a window hanging, when in a franchise business model, it is crealy up to the owner of the shit shack.

and the offended person who went into McDonalds over the sign when they don't even eat there but just have to drive by??? that is beyond my reasoning... what a fucking waste of breath to complain about something that doesn't include you. I still don't get that...

and i really hated you mentioning me committing suicide over something as bullshit as this. i lost alot of family members this year, man.. and i am not the only one. death is not exactly a light topic right now, and we are coming into the time of year when most people will lose someone at least relatively close to them. that's fucked, man.

vertical,

Sorry man...the suicide thing was too far. I've lost a couple close friends recently and I should not have said that.

I thought you had a problem with the Christmas sign and that's what you were fussing about. That really what it seemed like to me. If not, then you have my apologies

trash,

i am far more flexible that to be fussing over a sign that doesn't put people in danger. if i were going to go to that trouble over a sign, it would be the sign right before my off ramp on the way to work that people can barely see, that makes them cross like three lanes at once.

You know what pisses me the fuck off?

How aware we are of "religious discrimination", but how (purposely?) ignorant we are to our own selfishness around Xmas.

"Yes, Johnny, make sure you give your dad and I that $500 Xmas list (while many don't even get a good xmas dinner) so we can go out and buy your presents to put under the Chri--er--HOLIDAY tree.

The fuck?

Forreal, I didn't give my parents a list or mention anything I wanted for Christmas, 'cuz I finally am starting to see how fucked up it is and DO SOMETHING about it. Don't get me wrong, I got nothin against suprising ppl with gifts to show your love, but when you use Xmas as merely a means to get what you want and dress it up as "spreading goodwill". I aint tryna pat myself on the back or anything, but seriously, this is messed up..

I am planning to write an essay on this and put it in VU in the next few days...

Yea...I didn't give out a Christmas list or anything also. Ruins what the season is really about

its not about a season when you live with a true spirit of good will 365 degress of the circle of life...

just make your gifts, like all things you do, count; then you ain't gotta feel like you don't have a right to a present every now and then.

Minister's Christmas Message Includes 200-Word Disclaimer

POSTED: 11:25 am EST December 19, 2005

PHILADELPHIA -- The minister who founded Philadelphia's Urban Family Council is once again wishing everyone a "Merry Christmas," followed by a 200-word legal disclaimer.

The Rev. William Devlin's tongue-in-cheek disclaimer emphasizes that the traditional greeting "is not intended to offend, alienate, foster hate or be a precursor for any egregious acts." It adds that people who are "aggrieved, offended, waylaid, parlayed, filleted or delayed" by hearing the words "Merry Christmas" might want to call a lawyer.

Devlin said it's a parody that highlights what he calls "the lunacy" of trying to purge any mention of Christmas from the holidays.

He said the Urban Family Council is publishing the disclaimer for the fifth straight year because of popular demand.
