So, I just got both from UPS today. So far they're excellent. Mouse has adjustable weights for whatever weight you prefer your mouse at (whether you like it heavy or light), on-the-fly sensitivity switching (especially good for shooting games), and is laser, not optical. The keyboard has 18 programmable keys that can be used for anything, a little LCD display to display various information (some from games if it is supported, currently playing info, system info, etc.), and it's backlit. I'll probably make a review soon, but for the time being, I'll be gaming. Right now I'm using a Steelpad S&S gaming surface for the mouse, for those of you who might be interested.

First Impressions on the shelf and when it shipped - 9/10
+ Typical Logitech packaging.
+ Attractive and not overdone if you like typical Logitech packaging.
+ Brief list of features on bottom of front. Very convenient.
- Nothing too flashy, but could have done slightly more for a new gaming product.
Side note: CompUSA and Best Buy had no display model for either of these, which is strange but could be because of the morons locally.
Recommendation: Buy online. You can get much better prices.

What it's packaged with - 9/10
+Not quite minimal, not quite overdone, just right.
*Drivers (you can get them off the Logitech site too).
*Weight tin and weight tray (will explain later).
*Short, simple getting started chart.
*Small product brochure.
+Condensed and localized. Not all over the place.
+Mouse comfortably placed to avoid damage while still highlighting the appearance.
Recommendation 1: Go to logitech.com and get the newest drivers. Ignore the driver CD bundled.
Recommendation 2: Ignore step 3 on getting started guide and use Recommendation 1.

Driver Installation- 9/10
+Simple.
+Standard Logitech drivers. (everything is the same except a new set of options is unlocked when the G5 is detected)
-Standard Logitech drivers. (a little bloated, but oh well)
Recommendation: Go to logitech.com and get the newest drivers. Ignore the driver CD bundled.

Ease of Use- 8/10
+Has left and right click, middle click, up/down scroll, side scroll, and back button on side.
+Sensitivity switching on-the-fly is in a convenient location.
-Does not have forward button on side. Big mistake, but I use the side scroll for back and forward instead and it's working nicely.
Recommendation: If you use the back and forward thumb buttons of the mouse a lot, try using the side scrolling as back and forward.

Performance - 10/10
+Goes from nice and slow to uber-sensitive... on-the-fly. Shows which of 3 settings you're on by looking at the lights on the mouse.
+Smooth for the most part.
+Accurate.
+Comfortable. Not as nice as the MX1000, but very nice. It's said to be much like the older MX gaming mouse grips.
+Grip on the mouse is not very smooth, but not uncomfortable by any means. It maintains comfort while not allowing your hand to slip easily.
+Scroll wheel is silent when clicking or scrolling.
+Cord is in a shoelace style wrapping and seems to be more durable, while being thinner.
+Weights can adjust how heavy or light your mouse is. (makes a bit of difference, believe it or not)
-Uber-sensitive can seem not too smooth, but that may be a function of how fast it's moving in comparison to some visual things.
-Weights don't help too much if you try weighting it directionally, but the overall weight change is effective.
Recommendation 1: Use advanced game settings in the driver software to fine-tune the sensitivity on-the-fly. You can change settings from the default 400, 800, and 2000 DPI.
Recommendation 2: Use the weights to adjust how light or heavy you like the mouse.

In-game performance and convenience (CoD2 and CS:S used) - 9.5/10
+Everything you'd expect for gaming.
+Accurate.
+Sensitivity switching is extremely easy to use.
+Responsive clicking.
+Easy movement with new mouse feet material and shape.
-You may get killed while switching sensitivity as it does use one finger for a split second, but usually not long enough to be killed.

Styling - 10/10
+Looks new, but has styling like it's been through war with faded paint and the like (just a visual effect).
+Orange, silver, and black color scheme looks awesome.
+Sensitivity meter lights match color scheme.
+Thin cord in shoelace style wrapping. Looks kinda war-ish.

Conclusion - 9.8/10
+Superior styling.
+Superior performance.
+Fine-tunable weight.
+Sensitivity changing on-the-fly.
+Superior responsiveness (full-speed USB).
+Thin, yet heavy duty cord.
-No forward button.
-Weights don't help much when trying to put directional weight on it.

Saw this around.. looks much better (and sounds much more functional) than the mouse that came with my diNovo, but, I'll see if I can get one of these AFTER I go buy one of those Blue-Ray drives when they come out here..

Yeah, Logitech makes some hot mice. I have just a MX310 but it's great for games for me.

I chunked my MS mouse for the Mx1000 myself, and I am eyeing one of those new keyboards to go along w/it...

Yeah, that does sound like some sexy hardware...Still got the MX700 myself...Ya'll are forcing the issue on my upgrades... :king:

Been using the MX500 for a couple of years and have loved it to death, so it's time to upgrade.

sooooo, I ordered the G5 yesterday.....can't wait to get it.
