'Vampyre' Candidate Backs Public Impaling Thu Jan 12, 4:35 PM ET

MINNEAPOLIS - One gubernatorial candidate in Minnesota is giving a whole new meaning to the "dark side" of politics. A man who calls himself a satanic priest plans to run for governor on a 13-point platform that includes the public impaling of terrorists at the state Capitol building.

Jonathon Sharkey, also known as "The Impaler", plans to launch his gubernatorial campaign on †™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™‚¢‚¢¢¢¬…¡‚¬? when else? †™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™‚¢‚¢¢¢¬…¡‚¬? Friday the 13th. He'll make the announcement in Princeton.

"I'm going to be totally open and honest," said the 41-year-old leader of the "Vampyres, Witches and Pagans Party."

"Unlike other candidates, I'm not going to hide my evil side," he said.

In Minnesota, anyone who pays the $300 filing fee can get on the gubernatorial ballot and it seems that every year a few eccentric candidates make the rounds.

Sharkey raises the bar. For one thing, he told the Star Tribune in an e-mail that he drinks blood.

Including the impaling of terrorists, rapists, drug dealers and other criminals, Sharkey's platform includes emphasis on education, tax breaks for farmers and better benefits for veterans.

Sharkey said he worships Lucifer and, while he says he has nothing against Christians, he calls the "Christian God the Father" his "mortal enemy."

Sharkey said he was injured during a parachute jump with the Army in 1982 and receives veterans' disability benefits.

He has not yet registered as a gubernatorial candidate, but he has already filed as a candidate for the 2008 presidential election.

here is his statement from his website:

Minnesota is a great state, with great people. My son, John Jr. was
born in Redwood Falls, Minnesota on 7 Mar 92. Though I have not lived
in Minnesota as long as the other candidates for Governor, this state
holds a lot of sentimental value to me. My wife Julie was born and
raised here. Our children will be born and raised here. I love the
scenery here, the fresh air, the friendly people.

However, like my birth state of New Jersey, Minnesota has a lot of
Governmental problems. Though there is a surplus and it is not being
used properly. There is a lot of 'back room politicking', that is affecting
innocent people in the state. As you will read in my platform, I am a
strong supporter of education and protecting not only Minnesota†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¾¢‚¬Å¡‚¢s farm
lands, but farmers across America from becoming extinct.

As a Service-Connected Veteran, I believe a government leader should
have a deep concern for the care, health and well-being of all the
veterans. Hence, as Governor I will use parts of the surplus to fund
programs for not only our veterans here now, but those who are
returning from Iraq.

From being a former member of MADD†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¾¢‚¬Å¡‚¢s Public Policy Board, I am very
well aware of the danger of those who DWI/DUI. As Governor I will
introduce stronger laws to punish those who drive impaired by drugs
and/or alcohol. These criminals will do jail time, from their very first
offense.

During my time as Governor, drug dealers and users will live in fear. I
will introduce extremely harsh punishment for those who not only use
illegal drugs, I will fight to make dealers serve life in prison, or better
yet, Impalement.

Any Terrorist who is caught in Minnesota while I am Governor, will find
out what the true meaning of my nickname 'The Impaler' means.
Right in front of our State Capital. Then Fed†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¾¢‚¬Å¡‚¢s can take the terrorist†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¾¢‚¬Å¡‚¢s
body from the impaling stake. If the US Department of Justice (DOJ)
wants to charge me with brutally murdering a terrorist, they may do so.
I do not see an American Jury convicting me.

I will not deny or try to cover the fact that in 2008, I am running for the
presidency. SEE: http://herndon1.sdrdc.com/cgi-bin/fecimg/P80002884
You may ask why you should vote for me, if in 2009 I could become the
President. The answer is simply this. During my first 2-years as your
Governor, I will work harder for you than most Governors do in 8-years.
My goal to become president can be achieved in part, by just how well I
serve Minnesota during my first 2-years.

My personal and political belief is: †™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™¢¢¬‚¦‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦¢‚¬Å“If an elected official truly has the
betterment of those they serve in their hearts, than for the betterment
of their constituents, they cannot only work with all their elected
colleagues, but place the needs of those they serve above the
influence of †™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™¢¢¬‚¹¢‚¬¦¢¢¬…œSpecial Interest Groups.†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¾¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬?

President John F. Kennedy stated only 2-months before his
assassination, †™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™¢¢¬‚¦‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦¢‚¬Å“We have the power to make this the best generation of
mankind in history, or make it the last.†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬? I promise you as your Governor,
I will make your life and that of all Minnesotans, the best it has ever
been.

petty compeeling to me - but the impaling is a not a good platform stance.

I really liked the first part of his statement, then it just got creepy. LOL The impaling part won't fly in my personal opinion.

I'd love to see him drink the blood of some crack head. Later, as he slowly rots from the inside out, explain how that little stunt will help North America in any way. Impaling serial rapists, sure that's fun for all (except...the "victim"), but yeah, I agree, that should have been left as one of those surprise moves politicians are so fond of.

He's ruining all of his positive aspects and good political ideas by continuing to bring up the whole impalement thing...that is not an effective political manuever....and I think it's just wrong as a punishment.....I do like what he said on the political side of things...but I believe that it doesn't take goody-two-shoes type of people....its more of the pessimests who will better our society....I think he'd do good things for Minniesota...and if he doesn't get elected governer its his own fault

I read a bit of his statement, and it sounded pretty good, but really, who is going to take him seriously? He openly admits he worships Satan, and calls God his enemy, and he wants to impale terrorists and drug dealers etc... I can't imagine too many people taking him seriously.
