Darwinism and Fertility Treatments

I apologize in advance if this is an inappropriate place for this dialog.

Am I wrong in thinking the fertility treatments that some couples go through in order to conceive a child is one of the worst trangressions upon the human species that we are capable of? Shouldn't not being able to conceive a child be a sign that perhaps you are swimming in the shallow end of the gene pool and it would be better for everyone if the combination of alleles used to form your biomass would not be passed to future generations?

I am not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, or target anyone in particular for finger pointing and name calling; but as this planet becomes more and more populated, it almost seems like the progress of mankind is moonwalking to an era where there will be more dependants than capable providors if the weakest and least fit members of this species continue to cheat nature and pass their genetic material on to future generations.

What a coincidence, last night I was watching Miranda Hobbes upset about her "lazy oviary" on Sex & the City..........

It's not wrong to think what you thought, but it does seem a little unfair to each and every individual's instinct to procreate and pass their genes into the next generation.

@Pete: So you operate under the assumption that procreation is a right or that everyone is mandated to produce offspring. I knew before I got married I did not want to have any kids. Luckily I am married to a woman that feels the same way!

I don't know that it is just the unfit that are unable to have children naurally...have you been to Walmart? There are plenty of people there, who I am sure couldn't afford to have paid for assistance in having children, but they procreate anyway. I mean there are two people in the relationship, and sometimes it is a combination of the two that prevents them from having a baby. I have some very good friends that have been trying to have a baby for three years and they are having a hard time, but I think they would make great parents. I think the intelligence/knowledge that we have comes from above as well. So maybe we should start performing procedures that would prevent some from being able to procreate.

I'm just saying it is in our genes, to instinctually want to pass on our genes. Physical attraction boils down to wanting to spurt offspring, even if in your head you don't want to raise children. I don't necessarily want to have babies with every single Playmate I look at, but the root of why I find them attractive is quite certainly related to passing on my genes.

It's just like fat- fat was a major source of energy for the survival of ancient humans. That urge for survival has made us instinctly attracted to fatty food.

I know this girl, we'll call her Two Delta. lol I've known her for a couple years. I really have no interest in being a close friend or dating her... but I definitely wouldn't pass up the opportunity to fuck her! It's not because I want to pass on my genes, though. It's because she's fucking HAWT!
