This shit needs to be resolved now. Could you imagine if these two countries went to war? Does anyone know anything about this Taiwan situation? Why is China threatening to invade them if they declare independence? WTF... didn't anyone tell them colonization is over?

We hear the same thing every year just like North Korea threatens to invade the South every year, right before 'Market Square' kick's off.

I want to know why they consider the island part of China, though... it doesnt make much sense... I mean, China is willing to go to war over losing this island... there has to be something special about it. lol

China wants control of the revenue that the island gets from it's export's who are also rival to China itself in the world market. This is kinda like the Mexican elite thinking they can take the southwestren section of the United States and make it part of Mexico once again. When they become more than 50% of the total population, there's going big time trouble.

You got that right M8, I'm not sure what the fuck is going to happen, but if ever there was another large scale war to touch down on U.S. soil, whew...

@ highlife

This is why we have our ass in the mix:

Taiwan, backed by the United States as its main arms supplier........

U.S. = Big Brother Supreme...

here's the history.,

according to a treaty with japan after the Qing, the land was * immortally given* to Japanese occupation, but was still inhabited by Chinese aboriginals. The island had already been settled by the Spanish and the dutch.

after WWII Japan had to relinquish the land, which had long been divorced from mainland china's political environment.

Taiwan says "you gave us up" China says "Japan had to give you up, and we are taking you back."

Thing is, The taiwanese had almost completely won their independence from Japan, who was heavily tasked to wage war against the axis... and China had refused to help the island get out from under the japanese, for fear of japanese reprisal cpomparable to the SinoJapanese war.

the issue was easy, Taiwan had to settle for lesser status until they became a powerful oppotunity for economic sovereignty in Asia and abroad for China, who suffers still from instilling overpopulation to wage a groundwar that never really happened.

FREE TAIWAN.

And this is why it's good to have raum back. lol

Honestly, that sounds pretty thin to me. China needs to get a grip if they're really willing to go to war over this. You don't position 700 missiles and 400,000 troops opposite Taiwan because you're bored. This almost seems like a test from China.

I was on a ship circling taiwan back when China was regularly shooting missiles off the coast of the fledgling country.

Clinton loaded up a unit of ammunition cargo ships and had us going round and round, to intimidate China.

it worked.

we had enough explosives to make china a lagoon. and decimate taiwan. china backed off.
