I don't think the US will do that well. They have some good midfielders but their keepers just plain suck

The US should have coaxed big Brad Friedel out of retirement, he plays for my team (Blackburn Rovers)
Kicks off today with the Krauts playing Costa Rica. Whilst this is the worst German team I have ever seen, they have home advantage and usually grind out results in major tournaments.
Whilst I expect brazil to do well, they are defensively suspect and traditionally the Latin Americanm teams don't do so well in Europe. However, all their top players now play in Spain and Italy.
My tip is for the Italians or Dutch. The eyeties are extremely strong defensively and are in great form going into the competition. The Dutch have some great individuals, but their team spirit is usally suspect as they enter the competition with loads of in-fighting amongst the players.
The Ivory Coast and possibly Ghana may cause a couple of upsets.
Enjoy the feast of football fellas!

Great win today by Germany. They beat Costa Rica 4-2. Lahm had a goal and Klose had 2 goals on his 28th birthday for Germany. I forget who also scored.
Ecaudor beat Poland 2-0 today also

Great post with the standings. I'm watching the Englad/Trinidad and Tabago game right now. T&T is doing a great job of holding off England. England's Terry made a great save at the end of the first half. The keeper came out of the box and T&T's Sterlingjohn shot. Terry jumped and scissored it out at the goal line. Beautiful. It's amazing to see all the national pride people have in sports games. It's inspiring

Ecuador has been quite impressive, quite the surprise in this World Cup. My bets are on Germany to win it.

Man, these guys are playing for one ugly looking trophy... lol
This is my first time actually watching the world cup... the one thing that really frustrates me is how often guys kick the ball like 10 feet above the net. lol

Blame it on the new ball. The new 14 panel ball that is the nightmare of goal keepers in the cup, not only appears to give players more bend, but with it's rounder - non-stitched surface, more power.
Also, having played soccer, hitting the goal (no matter how big it looks) is not an easy thing to do during a game. It's one thing to punt them in during practice. It's a far different thing to do it on the run with defenders on your heels and adrenaline pumping in your veins...

Yea, stalker is right. They have a new ball this year that is suppose to help your shots curve more. Players aren't that used to them and keepers hate them.
Ecuador is looking good as is Germany, but my money is still on Italy. They come out of the second hardest group and will give Germany and Brazil a good run
