chemical WMD found in Iraq???

Here is a very rough transcript of the Rick Santorum-Pete Hoekstra press conference from earlier this evening...(basically my understanding is Santorum caught wind of this from an administration official earlier this year. He's been working to track down and now has gotten part of a report declassified):

[spoil:7155dd8a72]Congressman hoekstra and i are here today to say that we have found weapons of mass destruction in iraq, chemical weapons. It's a document that was developed by our intelligence community which for the last 2.5 Months i have been pursuing and thanks to the help of the chairman of the house intelligence committee, ultimately he was able to get it in his hands and i was able to look at it. I think both of us feel very strongly this is vitally important information that the amercian people needs to know and so i will read the portions of the unclassified version and then i'll turn it over to peter to make his comments about the significance of that and then i'll be happy to answer questions.

The unclassified version of this report states as follows follows. Since 2003, coalition forces have recovered approximately 500 weapons [munitions] which contain sarin nerve agent. Despite the efforts to destroy the pre-war chemical [munitions], fill and unfilled are assessed to still exist.

Now, let me go off the quote. That means that in addition to the 500, there are filled and unfilled munitions existing in the company. Back on statement,
they could be sold on the black market. Use of these weapons by terrorist and insurgent groups would have implications for forces in iraq. Possibility of use outside of iraq cannot be ruled out. The most likely munitions remaining are sarin and mustard filled project tiles.

I underscore filled. It depends on many factors, including the manufacturing process, potential additives and environmental storage conditions. While agents degrade over time, chemical warfare agents remain hazardous and potentially lethal. It has been reported in open press that insurgents and iraqi groups desire to acquire and use chemical weapons.

This is an incredibly significant finding.

The idea that as my colleagues have repeatedly said this this debate on the other side of the aisle that there are no weapons of mass destruction is in fact false. We have found over 500 weapons of mass destruction and, in fact, have found that there are additional weapons of mass †™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™‚¢‚¢¢¢¬…¡‚¬? chemical weapons still in the country†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™¢¢¬…¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¦.[/spoil:7155dd8a72]

Oh great, now we have to listen to the Libs and Dems down play it to hell. Let's see, maybe they will say that the United States planted the weapons, or these weapons are prewar 1990, or 500 shells/warheads are not the reason why we went to war. I think it's time to breakout sat uplink following the Russian Special Forces transporting truck load after truck load of WMD's to Sryia back in 2002. Yes, the DEMOS know this already, don't let them fool you.

So they did have WMD there. What now haters....

let's see. if I put up an internet page saying "brains is as easily influencible by the internet as a 2y old by his / her parents", you guys probably would not have any problem accepting it.

"National Review"?! with all-telling headlines like "We are better than our enemies.", "Al Qaeda tortures and slaughters" or "The North Koreans want to tell us, †™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬†™¢¢¬‚¦‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦¢‚¬Å“We can threaten you.†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¢†™‚¢‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦‚¡¢‚¬Å¡‚¬?". Where is the bias in these raum?

btw. whoever said Iraq did never have WMD?! the libs, the dems and brains certainly have not - and like we all know now "Brains is right". /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

the war was had because Iraq was supposed to be a clear and present danger and that does not seem to be the case still. that bbc news story you posted raum. very good hunting, but what does it tell us? that Iraq had WMD - nobody doubted it. was it a clear and present danger? given that photo of corroded weaponry, it doesn't seem like it.

you guys seem to be incredibly desperate to be proven right, to have your false opinions confirmed that you take any news story from any source as proof of your beliefs.

look, i am not the guy to hold to my opinion no matter what. if I am incorrect I have no problem with admitting my mistake, but so far, none of what you guys have posted changes my opinion.

"National Review"?! oh please.

the official website press release of <MY SENATOR WHO MADE THESE STATEMENTS>

we had this on the radio before it was even in the news,.. and you still can BARELY FIND IT ANYWHERE. A friend sent it to me. seems to me like if it is an official statement, it should be SOMEWHERE other than the right wing rags, yeah? maybe it would at least be somewhere on the news scene other than this rightwing paper, huh?

and yeah "slaughtered" is the exact translation of what that fucker said he did to our two troops on his video testimony to the act - he "slaughtered the animals"

and get that vinegar outcha mouth, brains. it's bad for the soul. I have endured all the veiled insults I will take from you.

you defend North Korea, Palestine, and even the BBC,.. and take cheap shots at me. that's a fucked up sense of perspective you have on international affairs.

ok. raum. i have endured some veiled insults as well and found myself going with the flow instead of using principled negotiation techniques. emotions are not always easy to ban in discussions like this. so please accept my apologies.

the aim of me is not to defend North Korea, Palestine (or the bbc - slightly different story) etc. It is to let you guys see that there are quite a few things the opposing party (the West) does wrong as well. That you can not as easily say "Hamas are terrorists" and "NK is a country of evil". We are not behaving better in a lot of cases. You guys talk about Israel having the right to defend itself; the same goes for the other two countries imho.

But, I have another question: WHO EDITED MY POST ABOVE WITHOUT MENTIONING SO? The first line - which now has "brains" in it - had "raum" instead. Hence the veiled insult raum mentioned. If you want to discuss, do so - in a seperate one. But don't change MY posts - unless it goes beyond the line of decency, in which case you warn / ban and make it public.

great, don't insult me, and I won't edit your posts. deal? I am a mod, and this is not a place where you just come and rip on people,.. specially not me. and as far as I understood it, you were just making an example,.. an example that should still stand if the hypothetical member in your statement is changed. and as you are the person making the statement, best to make your example first person.

we have a flame section, if'n you want to go there... I am more than able, but i am busy at work.

Brains, what you do not understand, is I AM AMERICAN. I AM A VETERAN. I KNOW MORE ABOUT HOW AND WHAT THIS COUNTRY DOES WRONG THAN ANYONE IN ANY OTHER COUNTRY.

I still have security clearance to things YOU WILL NEVER SEE.
1. because you have no need.
2. because you have no right.

I don't need you to explain to me anything about my country. because I don't know who you are, but I know you don't know a damn about my country, and all I see you do to me is rip apart links when you find opportunity to do so on their source, not their substance.

and what kind of logic is you assertion based on? We didn't find WMD that are enough of a threat??@!?!?

are you French? what the fuck kind of defense of your position is that?>
