those "...high standards expected of all Marines," will getcha every time. Let boys be boys and you won't have to hear naggin. Keep selling the image of avenging angels and you'll be the target of couch politicians and PC police.

Hey, there might be a huge twist to this story, their talking about on Foxnews. Not much detail's to go on, but I have this feeling Mr. Murtha might be eating his words real soon.

Huh...there must be something that's not being said
"If there were no eternal consciousness in a man, if at the bottom of everything there were only a wild ferment, a power that twisting in dark passions produced everything great or inconsequential; if an unfathomable insatiable emptiness lay hid beneath everything, what would life be but despair?"

excuse me buff, but don't get it twisted.
a Marine, especially, in uniform does not have freedom of speech.
no serviceman does. but they didn't get him for such a charge.
He is not being punished because no section of the UCMJ (uniform code of miltary justice) says he can not sing a song about pride in his service, a romantic interest from a foreign country, lack of communication, failed attempts to integrate with locals, and being caught in the cross fire in a situation that renders collateral human casualities. In fact, The American Military Tradition is full of songs about these kinds of situations - JUST NOT ALL OF THEM AT THE SAME TIME.
For the record, the only time a Serviceman has the consitutional rights of all civilians is when temperorily relieved of duty. It's called "Liberty" for a reason. When a Serviceman is on duty, he must adhere to the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and it does not include ANY of the constitional rights, including the right to bear arms. In uniform, the only weapon you can carry is the weapon you are ORDERED to carry.
That is what you "volunteer" for, a suspension of your constitutional rights to ensure the consititutional rights for all. and that is why I thank every fellow member of the Military who has served, is serving, or will serve.

I'm a 12 year vet and I knew that already. I was only guessing since alot things have changed in this country and the ACLU is big part of the reason. With this being election year, I could see it being about freedom of speech after the media whores got hold of it. There can always be exceptions to policy, and with the negative spotlight on military right now, I could see this as an attempt to appease the public. Again, I didn't mean to twist the facts, I'll leave that to the media.

This guy might have been an asshole, but a song hardly constitutes criminal behaviour - no matter how insulting or degrading it might be -
