I believe it was Chris Rock that said, "Guns don't kill people...Stupid motherfuckers with guns kill people..."

btw... I got statistics to back up the "more guns, more crime" idea I posted before...
http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm? ... _id=343781
i am not inventing this shit. more guns bring more crime, quite a contradiction to what the NRA makes you believe.

really? Standford's Law Brigade issued a paper with a general socialist view about firearms in the hands of civilians in response to a PHD analysis... who'dathunk?
less guns does not equal less crime. but having a gun doesn't mean you know what to do with it, nor what to not do with it.

apparently! /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
but raum. where's the socialist? i only see statistics in the paper... you seem not to believe it - then where are they incorrect?

Brains,
Ian Ayres is a thinly veiled socialist... He thinks "reckless sex" which leads to a STD should be punishable in court as a seperate crime, and less punishable than it is currently. He thinks having segregated bathrooms is sexist, which leaves transgendered people feeling sad. He thinks straight people should have to pay a tax for a fund to integrate homosexuality into modern America. He honestly believes white men get better deals on cars. He thinks no one should have guns or authority but the government, and the lawyers who create the law. He thinks companies should have stricter rules for trading, when most companies die from being unable to afford the regulatory procedures in place (though, being I am a regulatory compliance/ personal and corporate security professional, this just amounts to more job security for me).
From his views to gender to gun control to economics,.. he maintains a view consistent with socialism. Oh, and despite his little papers he writes, he has consistently refused to openly debate John Lott on the contents of the paper you cited.
(As a former Californian with an armed security license, I know well the loops you have to jump through to obtain a permit to carry, and I am more than familiar with the papers that come out of Stanford.) Really, all those papers speak against are the need for strict regulation. They prove positive it does nothing for the crime rate.
-------
The only way to get numbers that aren't "bullshit" is do a GAP regression analysis with the following:
For the entire nation, model:
number of armed arrests with unregistered weapons,
to number of arrests with registered weapons,
by number of weapons registered,
by population over 13,
by number of total arrests,
by recurring crime,
of total population.
you need at least 45 models, with at least 12 overlapping date ranges.
It would take too long for an accurate statistical model, so people run with smaller models, and sample fewer data sets. But that is the only way to see how many guns purchased under the provisions our society has for 2nd Amendment Rights are contributing to armed crime. You can have a conclusive study of the whole nation, or a specific study of a region, which factors in economic considerations and other factors.

Brains, using that logic , I could counter by saying that with more cars on the road than ever before means there will be more car accidents which will lead to more deaths. Should we ban automobiles? I didn't think so.
