Iron Man has "the exploitation of technology to harm innocents and commit crime" as his arch-enemy.
The Mandarin is the villian cited for this flick. He is not going to be nearly as offensive to asians.
i would still watch it, but man,.. this better not suck. the guy that did Elf is making it. whoopie!

Re: Iron Man : The Movie
Aw now, let's give the director a chance to screw it up before we all decide it's going to suck, can't we? I'm just glad they're making enough comic book movies these days that there's the luxury of deciding which ones suck and which ones don't! ;)
Here are some early pics from Paramount. I have to say, the sight of the old gray suit gets me kind of psyched. :geek:

Here's another one...
I just really, really hope this doesn't suck...Like it was mentioned, w/Transformers having such awesome CG, it has really just raised the bar tremendously...

Re: Iron Man : The Movie
Based on the bits and pieces I've heard about the plot, it sounds like Tony Stark has a heart condition, has a mechanical heart installed (notice the glowy thing on his chest in the one picture), gets captured by Afghanis who force him to build his first suit of armor (the gray one), he uses it to escape, then goes on to build the gold-and-red one that Ubermensch showed a picture of. Something like that. Which is close enough to the original mythology for me. I'm sure the CGI will look great -- it's always easier to do mechanical things in CGI than it is to do human-looking things (like the Hulk).
Although, about the Hulk movie, I have to say ... I walked into that one expecting to like the story (it was Ang Lee after all) and be unimpressed by the CGI. But as it turned out, the story was an absolute travesty, and the CGI was much more impressive and less cartoony than I thought it would be. The physics could have been more realistic, but compared to the nightmare plot line, I was willing to excuse that.

Off topic, but I'm watching the TV version now, and DareDevil just wasn't that bad to me...What exactly did you guys think was so bad..? Of all the Superhero movies I can think of at the moment, Jennifer Garner alone makes the cut above the others...She looked so good in this movie its no wondering Ben jumped the JLo ship...
