Also available are: Clonazapam, Flurazepam, Trazadone, Seraquel, and a couple others I can't remember right now.

And no, I'm not the one on them... wife is.

I feel SORRY for you A, haha. Maybe you should change to Apple Macintosh computers. They are more stable I think.

so you were trying to reinstall with the old HD in the new laptop or reinstalling with old hd in old laptop?

If I were you, I would get one of the aforementioned laptop 2.5" hard drive to USB converters and not try to do any more write operations on the HD you want to salvage data from.

if the original laptop will boot from CD, you have way more options than if it will not POST or if you can not even get into bios

on your original desktop PC, does that boot from CD or was there some other kind of motherboard or power supply issue with that system? If you can get the desktop and laptop to boot from cd and setup a network connection you could have the data you want to save off the laptop HD in a pretty short amount of time....

Yeah, I don't think I'm going to be able to save my programs and settings, which I'm not really worried about...I'll just have to redownload stuff, spend time reconfiguring this and that, etc...I really don't want to loose my e-library and things like that, and if I can find a way to simply get them from my old laptop drive, I'd be doing great...

I went laptop shopping today, and was delighted to find that laptops are not nearly as expensive as I thought..!

I found an HP w/2 GB of RAM, an AMD Turion 64 X2 @ 1.8 GHz, intergrated web cam and a whole bunch of other stuff for like a G...Of course, I'm going to competitive shop that, but for the most part, I was pleased with that...I'm not going to worry about getting a desktop, I'll probably invest in a TV tuner and some external enclosures, and salavage data from my old desktop harddrives that way...

Some laptops definitely have gone down. I saw one at FutureShop a while back for about $700 Canadian. I can't remember all the specifics, but I do remember it sounded pretty good.

Ja, if you really can't get the data back at your place for the life of you, get some-one near you, eg your neighbour or something, to let you use their computer for an hour or two and burn the data to DVD, until you can get yourself a new system..

Yep, the only thing I can think of is at least get a cheap but good machine that will safely take your data and be able to archive it to DVD or at least USB drives, lock them things in a safe, and save up for a new decent computer.

Good luck Ty.
