The Titans to bring Kerry Collins in for a visit

Tennessee is prepared to sign the former Raider pending he passes a physical. In late July, it was reported that Collins would be the team's starter if they were to sign him. Though Billy Volek has struggled this preseason, the immobile Collins does not seem an ideal fit behind Tennessee's shaky offensive line.

Basically, I think they are really going to feel the sting of letting McNair go, who I bet will flourish this year in Baltimore...Either that, or they are really feeling the need to have an excuse for Vince Young to start right away...

I haven't seen Vince at all in the preseason. How is he playing? Does he look good enough to start in the NFL?

The Titans have agreed to a contract in principle with Kerry Collins.

He still has to pass a physical to make the signing official. I can't imagine Collins learning the offense fast enough to supplant Billy Volek in Week 1, but it's a possibility. The Titans wouldn't bother bringing Collins in if they didn't think he'd play eventually.

As for Vince Young, Collins signing says it all really. He injured his hand during practice last Wednesday. Young banged his thumb on a teammate's helmet. X-rays came back negative. Titans coach Jeff Fisher said Young wasn't ruled out for this weekend's preseason game, but he didn't get in. I'd say they are going to sit him this season so he can learn via practices as much as possible.
