Post by raum »

Xbox is offering up huge dl from their marketplace including a TRUE HD 1080p resolution software upgrade for all 360 games and movies. Someone is going to have to tell Sony not to Jump,..

That being said, what are you playing

ME: San Andreas (got the Xbox version), Lego Star Wars II - which satifies about 95% of my childhood imaginings, and Saints Row (which just doesn't do it all when you are playing San Andreas at the same time.)

Games I am most looking forward to: MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE, Lost Planet, Just Cause, and maybe Chrome hounds, if i can get a good voucher for it!

That being said, I have paid less than 200 dollars for my system, and 7 games, just from trading in old crap I already beat!

raum and video games is a BIG 10-4. Lego Star Wars II is the current incarnation of that. GREAT GAME!

I like video games alot and have since I bought my first intellivision with my own money(which still works), but I spent about 7 years out of the gaming world. I used to read alot, now I can digest two books a week without trying. and my reading list is pretty dense right now.

Do you play? Does anyone on here?

I don't have a system but I love playing. For me, it's always sports games. I own at Madden and I'm pretty good at March Madness. I've been looking for a good deal on an XBOX 360 for my college dorm but I haven't found a good enough deal yet. I'm poor and don't really want to spend the $300 for it

I used to be big on whipping some ass, and admittedly, I haven't been playing as much as usual...And I don't have a 360...YET...When I get my setup back like it was tho, I will be back a gaming ass...Microsoft really stuck the kryptonite in and broke it off w/this one...

I can tell you RIGHT NOW that xBox 360 is the system to get... and it looks like Microsoft is going to get agressive in the next three months. The rumour is a 50 dollar price drop after the tokyo show releases.

a simple 50 dollar price point drop and they will compete price-wise with the Nintendo wii (at the time it ships, xBox 360 will have more than 20 games, wii has 4 release titles) and perfomance-wise with the PS3 (if it even exists). and they will still have over 200 games either on the market or in their xbox live marketplace by end of holiday season. AND they got a insanely full cadre of games for the Xbox which port to the 360 marvelously, and is still getting exclusive titles and some are becoming best selling hits.

I wanna believe the wii can come together, and I have seen some promise,.. but the PS3 seems so poorly focused it is either genius, because they are selling down their image to keep competition unaware, or Sony is just damn incompetent.

Besides, if its just you hate Microsoft, the PS2 has great games coming out, and many are more promising than spending 600 dollars on the PS3, just so you have a blu-ray video player, which WILL ONLY BE SAVED if p0rn decides on blu-ray as their medium of choice, which is not likely because people will demand more content, and they can't recycle as much of it.

THE ONLY reason to buy the PS3 was Assassin's Creed (think GTA Jerusalem circa 1149AD) and its proudly coming to the 360.
There is not a single reason to buy a blu-ray dvd player, and Sony has punched themselves in the nuts on this one.

360 has buried the PS3 before it ever hit the shelves, and while Nintendo has fan boys, playstation not so much. and it ain't about the money for Gates, he gave away more money than he made off the entire worldwide next gen market so far, for tropical disease research alone.

What drives that man(besides claiming souls for his Infernal Master)?

Altogether, in the last two months alone, he has given away more than 30% of the Iraq War budget to solid charitible causes for serious research of disease.

I have a PS2 that I fire up for a little Madden or Gran Tourismo when the mood strikes. It has been probably over a year since I turned it on though, my wife uses it more than I do; she plays her yoga dvd's in it.

yup, microsoft is getting ready to drop prices,.. they just put out the notice that they are getting ready for the release of the first xbox 360 greatest hits "platinum" series:

Perfect Dark Zero - first person shooter, with a emphasis on stealth and accuracy and escorting people to safety
Gran Turismo - standard race cars with picturesque scenery*yawn*
Need for Speed - street racing with major car building and styling -
Kameo - literally, this game has everything from levels of jumping to puzzles and mass scale combat with calvary and infantry, to online interaction, and customization

these will be 29.99 and they are preparing for a first fleet (I think probably more like 10 titles) for the holiday season.

hmm... ps3 has quite a lot more to offer than x360 raum. the only thing which I would consider a 360 for is "live", which I am pretty damn sure will be better implemented by Microsoft.

On the other hand, ps3 premium has IEEE802.11b/g and HDMI "next-gen" (1.3). Both part of the official specifications for the 60Gb model. Also: bluetooth 2.0 and MemoryStick, SD as well as CompactFlash support. Never mind the Blu-Ray (which WILL give some games the advantage of swaplessness) and CELL - the fastest processor around according to the the U.S. Department of Energy's Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (report here.

With a bit of reservation: PS3 gen 1 games look to be on par with (if not slightly outclassing) 360 gen 2 games, which bodes farely well for PS3's future, but TGS will give us more info on that a mere two days from now.

Games to look forward to on the platform are: Resistance: Fall of Men, Genji, Warhawk, Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword and Lair. Oh... and there's this next MGS coming up somewhere in the future.

Lastly, more and more developer notes are trickling in that PS3 is not that hard to develop for. People get code running way faster than on PS2 - which hardly is a reference I know. But generally speaking, developers who have had some time with it, are surprised by the PS3's ease of programming.

I play the old school racing games. I have a Game Cube and a gen one Playstation. I too have not hit that thing for like a year. I actually got them when we were having our first baby, who turns two tomorrow, cuz I thought we would be spending more time at home....but I have not had time to play them because he can't sit still. I can hardly keep up with the little man, he goes and goes and goes.
