Hi Guys

This is just something fun we do every year about this time, we think about what music we heard over the course of the year and try to compile the best of the year which, of course, for each person is going to be wildly different. It's sometimes interesting to see what floats each person's boat at any given time.

I'll start it off with my best of...well, so far anyway, there's time yet....so, in no particular order...

Sheryl Crow - Ordinary Day (Sheryl Day)
Hothouse Flowers - The End of the Road (Into Your Heart)
Jim Steinman - Lost in the Dark (Bad For Good)
Augustana - Boston (All the Stars and Boulevards)
Madonna - Mer Girl (Ray of Light)
Neil Young - Like a Hurricane (American Stars'n'Bars)
Van Morrison - And the Healing Has Begun (Into the Music)
Led Zeppelin ¢¢¬¢‚¬Å“ Stairway to Heaven (Four Symbols)¢¢¬‚¦..the best thing you could hear ANY Year (IMHO)!!!
Rainbow - Stargazer (Rising)
Govm'nt Mule - Soul Shine (Acoustic Live 99)
Jimi Hendrix - Little Wing (Axis - Bold as Love)

If you want to comment on my selection, please feel free but remember these are just my choices for this year, last year and next year should be very different. What I would really like is for you to add your own choices. If there is enough agreement over the choices, it might be cool to actually compile it as an album and mak eit available fo rdownload here...AYHJA's Best of 2006......just a thought...

I look forward to see what everyone thinks.

Wow guys, interesting topic...And for someone like me to love music, I gotta say, I'm at a loss for trying to come up with stuff I've heard this year that I've liked...

I mostly listen to Rap/Hip-Hop and RnB, but I have all kinds of genre's I follow...But I don't really listen to the radio that much anymore, and none of the stuff I've heard when I have listened to the radio has caught my ear...But, I'll try, and hopefully come back to edit some this list...Shit, I just hope what I've got down is from this year, lol...

1. T.I. - What you know
2. Pharrell - Number 1
3. Rick Ross - Hustlin' (Remix)
4. Melodiq - Heaven Sent
5. Lupe Fiasco - Kick Push

Hi Guys

Thanks for the interest in this, couple of things I should've said before. The music doesn't have to be new this year, just the best you've heard and it can be any genre of music not just rock or pop or anything like that. There's no limit to how many or few songs you list, it might be 50, it might be just one but towards the end of the year, we usually pick one best of the year song, or we try anyway......

Hi Deepak...some interesting choices there, I've just recently heard The Fray, not bad at all......and Snow Patrol are from my little neck of the woods, Belfast...just thought you might like to know...

Anyway, keep 'em comin'

Best Regards

Goodog

Haha if I started listing the songs that I like, man oh man wont that be a long az list lol.

I generally say I have a weird tase in music. You'll find a lot of music on my computer man. I have like gigs and gigs of just music. My "My Music" folder became a little slow to open, I had to create another music folder haha.

But really I think its a good idea to have an "Annual AF2 Top 40 " or something similar ... It could have the top 40 songs that AFers think were the top hits for the year.

It could also wrap on with the idea of the AF Radio with a station dedicated to the contenders and nominations and voting can be done on which songs should be in the top 40.

What ya'll think about it

Great Idea..!!! The AF top 40 could be one of our radio stations...Damn good idea Deepak...

But yeah, like you said, I'm gonna keep it within 2006, anything else, and I might go nuts..! You've got some good ones on your list Dee, I think I might have to agree and add a couple of them...

It's just weird to me to think that.....

The rose bowl was played this year

as was the superbowl and the second half of the NBA season....

Not to mention I was still a junoir during this year

Just thought I'd take the time to remind everyone how when you're in school.....your conception of "years" is all fucked up because you tend to do it by school year as opposed to calander year

but back on topic.....the reason I posted all that was to say how long this year has been for me and how I really don't even remember what I was listening to in feb and such...

I only really can remember when asked about "this yaer" what I've listened to since school started...

and even then I'll have to get back to you with my list...

Great topic though...

Hi Guys

I can just add Thunder Road from The Boss after it turned up on my rotation just now, fuck me he was awesome.....he's playing in Belfast soon but it'll be the Pete Segar sessions and I don't fancy paying ‚£80 odd for that, I know the guys a legend but.....

On another, happier note, Dave Matthews is playing in teh Waterfront Hall in Belfast in February next year!!!! I can't believe that, and I can't wait...the past few years while we have done this best thing all year thing, Dave Matthews has won for me with stuff like Bartender, Big Eyed Fish and, last year, Don't Drink the Water from The Gorge...absolutely awesome....fuck me I can't wait!!!!!

Best Regards
