The Bush administration has staked an aggressive new claim to dominate space - rejecting any new treaties that seek to limit the United States' extraterrestrial activities and warning that it will oppose any nations that try to get in its way.
A new policy recently signed by President George Bush, asserts that his country has the right to conduct whatever research, development and "other activities" in space that it deems necessary for its own national interests.

I am sorry but if ANY of this is right, Mr Bush has gone so far OUT of line that there is *NOTHING* you can tell me to persuade me about the level of IQ and sanity of this man and the government behind him.
All I can tell to his supporters is that I am seriously sorry that this government has chosen to oppose EVERYONE in the world.
Last word? With movements like this, people in the U.S. of A. should not wonder why the rest of the planet is so madly against them.

so we are not supposed to do anything with space because no one else can yet.
that's stupid. I say we annex space, make it part of America. promote freedom, and shoot any invaders who come across the planetary border!

Ham.
So, you no problem that your government wants to expand in a territory like space and own it, while at the same time it will prevent anyone else from doing so.
I'm sorry, I always thought that powerplay is for the stupid quarterbacks at school who have more muscle than brains.

I don't see what's wrong with using some of space. If we have the technology and the capacity to do it, then by all means, we should. Why should we have to wait for everyone else to catch up to us?
"If there were no eternal consciousness in a man, if at the bottom of everything there were only a wild ferment, a power that twisting in dark passions produced everything great or inconsequential; if an unfathomable insatiable emptiness lay hid beneath everything, what would life be but despair?"

My issue with the U.S. expanding into space has nothing to do with this lame excuse... lol
My issue is with the result of the U.S. expanding into space. If they do it, you know damn well China will be right behind them, and I trust China as far as I can throw it.

ham....
Obviously, the quarterback example doesn't tell you much. Well, let me rephrase it:
Even if you want to claim territory in space, it's a crime against humanity to prevent other countries from doing so.
Then again, I think I'm wasting my words on this issue.
