I'm hoping it lasts until December, that way I can take it in during the holidays. I have too many assignments due for it to crash right now. The problem is I'm not the most computer-savvy person, so I don't know if I want to get into partitioning my HD... lol

QUOTE(Kramer @ Oct 31 2006, 10:58 AM) Ok seriously... how the fuck can a brand new HD go to shit within 8 months? That's ridiculous...

*comes out of woodwork*

I think so too. My ol' Windoze box from 1998, I think it's a Seagate, not even 5 gigs in size, still runs fine..

*goes back into woodwork*

If the checkdisk ran fast, then its a good chance it either found and recovered some data from bad sectors, or that your drive doesn't really have one foot in the grave like we think...They aren't supposed to make noise, but I had a coupel that made weird noises before, and they kept working, so...You may be alright...I would make backups of critical files, and save anything else, like your paper's and what not, on a thumb drive...

This is ridiculous... I can't do anything. Any time I try to extract a movie or just open it in the .rar file, it starts clicking after 15%, and I get an error message.

I'd like to just kill this damn thing and get it over with already. I'm not working on this piece of shit for another month. This is bullshit.

Man, I hate to see you going through something like that but you are RUNNING OUT OF DISK in NO time.

Within days, you are about to lose EVERYTHING that's on this disk.

If you won't listen to anything else, just

*B*A*CK*K*U*P*

*I*M*M*E*D*I*A*T*E*L*Y*
Good... Bad... I'm the guy with the gun...

Is it possible to save my bookmarks so I don't lose them again?

Yup..
Both IE's and FF's bookmark files are in your Profile directory, normally C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\ and under there somewhere..

there are also FF extensions that will help you to backup and even keep syncronized between multiple computers.

The sticky thread about FF extensions will have more details
