OK, check this out...

This may be a little bit difficult to describe...

I have MCE on my laptop...It has composite and svideo as well as analog inputs for the TV tuner...I can watch TV just fine...Everything is clear, crispy, works great...Sucks that MCE doesn't let me choose between the two without doing a 3 minute song and dance, but whatever...

However, if I plug in my PS2, there is a lag when I press buttons, like maybe up to 2 seconds...As in, if I have the video cable connected, unplug it, the video will show for a couple of seconds before going blank...Same with the audio...

Now the flip shit is, it only does it when I'm trying ot use the controller...If I set the game to the demo mode, everything is fine...The commentary, movements...Everything...But if I hit pause on my controller, it takes a couple of seconds before it will respond...

As you may guess, that fucks up gaming quite a bit...The cables are fine as far as I can tell, I hook them up to the TV, and the game played fine...Maybe I need to grab some HQ cables or something...

Anywho, I hope ihs is fairly clear...Any ideas..?

Disclaimer:

I am not nearly the hack that any of you are...

Questions:
Could it be a card related issue? Shouldn't be much of a difference between TV and video games since you are just putting a picture into your system. Maybe there is a delay in processing the picture that you don't notice when watching TV or the demo. but you are getting a couple second delay so when you react by pushing buttons on your controller you are actually late because the signal the PS2 is putting out has been delayed by your 'puter. Does that make sense? You should try watching TV on your puter and on another TV set at the same time and see if there is a delay in the picture on your computer.

RESULTS? RESULTS?

No, I don't think its the card at all...As mentioned, TV plays fine...Even on the game, if I let it go to demo mode, everything is great...Its just the delayed button presses that has me fucked...As I mentioned, I think its MCE, but there's no way that I can verify that because I don't know of another program that I can put my hands on...

For the record, I have an nvdia GeForce Go 7600

discarded troubles with the game aparatus and controls
the decoding process of the signals shouldnt take 2 secs for showing the image unless it's configured to buffer the data like a cd player antiskip readahead. try using ChrisTv PVR software www.chris-tv.com is the best soft for tv

PS: That proves that possible solution is at the reach of any stupid. but you're right i'm incredibly smart.

Guys, it can't be a read ahead buffer, because;

a) It'd attempt to buffer live TV..
/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> Doesn't make sense that it doesn't buffer it when it's in demo mode..

Whatever you want to call it, using that program Fap suggested worked just fine, I played a game on the program this morning...

MCE has Tivo like capability, that whole pause live TV thing and the whole 9, I have little doubt now that is what the issue was...I was on the right track, but not nifty enough to put all the pieces together when I realized that even after I disconnected the cord, the video kept showing for a couple of seconds...
