Tech or politics, I am not sure. Since it is one of the biggest technological projects ever being started by man, I post it here.

QUOTEAn international consortium has signed a formal agreement to build an experimental nuclear fusion reactor.

The multi-billion-euro project known as Iter - or "the way" in Latin - will aim to produce energy from nuclear reactions like those that fuel the Sun.

If successful, it could provide energy that is clean and almost limitless.

The project, which will be based in France, follows years of talks between South Korea, Russia, China, the EU, the US, India and Japan.

so what are your thoughts on this? is fusion good or bad? do we really need it? should we not invest the money on alternative fuels instead of on an unproven, highly technological and risky undertaking like going after Ra's energy?

forgot to post my take: I applaud the agreement. Finally something constructive comes about in these turbulent years. I like technology and I like cooperation.

I personally think we are better off building for fusion than sticking with the crap they call nuclear now...

Much safer and cleaner than any other source. Just hope it's not a one time deal and that the technology will work.
