The Good Shepherd

Genre: Drama/Thriller
Rating: R for violence, sexuality, and language
Starring: Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie, Alec Baldwin, Robert De Nero

Plot Edward Wilson, the only witness to his father's suicide and member of the Skull and Bones Society while a student at Yale, is a morally upright young man who values honor and discretion, qualities that help him to be recruited for a career in the newly founded Central Intelligence Agency. While working there, his ideals gradually turn to suspicion influenced by the Cold War paranoia present within the office. Eventually, he becomes an influential veteran operative, while his distrust of everyone around him increases to no end. His dedication to his work does not come without a price though, leading him to sacrifice his ideals and eventually his family.

Review: Excellent, excellent movie. Very well done. It is long and slow though. I'm surprised that it's rated R for violence because there is very little action at all in the movie. You really have to concentrate and listen to piece together who's who and what's going on. I went into it thinking that there was going to be some action and there wasn't very much at all. But overall, I really enjoyed this movie

4 out of 5 Stars
"If there were no eternal consciousness in a man, if at the bottom of everything there were only a wild ferment, a power that twisting in dark passions produced everything great or inconsequential; if an unfathomable insatiable emptiness lay hid beneath everything, what would life be but despair?"

Soren Kierkegaard

Hey tt, thanks for these reviews man...Usually there's something that comes out this time of the year that I'm definitely going to go and see, but this year, there are quite a few that seem OK, but no real blockbuster....
