Good news for those looking to upgrade to Core 2 Duo, the price cuts from Intel rumored about last month are almost here, and by the end of January will become apparent. With the additional revisions on the market, the price of the lower end Core 2s will be around $163 – a fantastic price for such a powerful CPU. Hopefully this will not only make building a desktop even cheaper, but also inspire AMD to drop prices as well.

TOO LATE...
Long live Intel..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder if I can get an upgrade for my chip, and run virtual circles around any fucking AMD chips that get in my way...

AYHJA, you can brag all you want about intel, the truth is, they had been "sleeping" for TOO long. Ever since AMD overcame the heating (overclocking their own chips to the burn extend) issue they had, they've been kicking intel's ass(SHAKIRAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!) for too long. Let's see how well they will do. Oh, and mind you, let's hope that the supporting chipsets will work too /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> I still remember all the stupid incompatibilities of 845 and later chipsets that were buggy ass(SHAKIRAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!) all hell !
You *HAVE BEEN* swolloed by the darkness /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> First this and then bududurudu /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

I have.. lol
Core 2 still beats AMD (not by much though, with the newer processors), but we're all still waiting on AMD's next-gen chip, similar to what Intel did. They completely changed the architecture with Core 2, not the old NetBurst crap you had since Pentium I, II, III and 4..
So, it's kind of comparing Apples and Oranges at this stage. AMD haven't had a major change in architecture for quite a bit (AM2 doesn't count, that was a change of the CPU/bus interface, nothing more).

If they weren't, they wouldn't be working on one right now, would they?
That's what I'm saying - AMD's answer to Core 2 will be they're new one coming in a few months.
