Hybrid Blu-ray & HD DVD player

LG has set the price for its BH100 combination Blu-ray and HD DVD player at $1,199. Available in the first quarter of this year, the company thinks it can resolve buyer confusion and push both high-def formats using Broadcom's chipset. 1080p and DTS-HD audio support are present and accounted for, but no word yet on other features, like 1080p24 or HDMI 1.3, but for more information check our live coverage of LG's press event and demonstration.
Already available at Best Buy...

To be honest, I'll stick with the DVD player I have now. I'm not gonna waste my money on this thing, especially since the battle isn't even over yet. No sense spending over a grand on a player you may not even need later on.

No, though, you'd want one if you'd like to be able to see the quality difference between the two..

I bought my first HD DVD a while back, and I wanted to put my finger in the screen...I'm shopping for an HDTV right now...Its amazing...

HD kicks ass, however I am not going to spring for an HD player until the format war is over... that said I have a progressive scan dvd player hooked up to my 62 inch (with the mirrors) and it is real nice.

Turns out it was priced 800 and should have been 1800. and it is lovely.

I bought my first HDTV a couple of months ago. And you can't get them cheap here.
They're $2200+ in my country.
But since I watch TV a lot anyway I consider it a good investment, and the cable operator here offers HDTV reception (unlike Croatian earth signal).
But as for Blu-Ray, I think I'll wait for a little while. My old Sony DVD does it's job fairly well, and the computer is hooked on to the TV set so I'm well situated for brainless fun.
