I don't think that this will go anywhere, really...Too many things that can impede on a person's personal freedoms...I mean, think about ripping CD's to put on an ipod...In theory, that would have to stop...
Saying RS doesn't have any legal uses isn't fair...It DOES, and has saved my ass plenty of times making backups of my data I don't want to loose, or want remote access to...
The responsibility of protecting copyrighted material lies solely with the individual wanting to protect it, period...You don't want your DVD so easily bootlegged, you put on some kind of encryption...
I love the internet, if anything in persuades people to not put out shitty material...I have literally bought thousands of CD's...No CD store I've ever been into will allow you to listen to an album before you buy it...Many a night I've been in my car banging my fucking head against the wheel because I just paid $17 for a shit disc...
Even if I download an album, if I listen to it all the time I go buy it...Even if I never take the shit out the package, I support the artist...I download software, but if I use it everyday, I buy it...
And besides, they can't stop RS just like they couldn't stop p2p...When one technology goes to shit, another technology arrives and takes another 5 years to get someone to notice....
Telling RS they can't exist because people abuse the service is like someone trying to sue Microsoft cause they got a virus using Internet Explorer, lol...

copyright owners must also remember that they can complain and have their copyrighted material removed by rapidshare. hence, no need for drastic measures!!!

By extrapolation, this site would be in danger as well as certain not-to-be-identified posters have put copyrighted material on the site. While I honestly don't think we're big enough to attract any significant attention, it is concerning that lawsuits such as this are out there.
