I got a few question i'd like to ask you guys, since you're the only people i trust on the net.
Number 1.
What is svchost.exe? I googled it and this is what i found: is a process registered as a backdoor vulnerability which may be installed for malicious purposes by an attacker allowing access to your computer from remote locations, stealing passwords, Internet banking and personal data. If unaccounted for, this process should be removed immediately.
It said on this site the they have a free scan for it I don't know if these guys are for real or just another fool site.
Number 2.
Everytime I try to play a video file (.avi) i get this:
I don't remember installing anything that has to do with any photo gallery. Even at startup it pops up its ugly head. Every time it comes out, i couldn't play any videos on Windows Media Player. Audio is there but the vid ain't.
Any ideas guys? Thanks!

1) svchost.exe is the Service Host. It's a process that runs the services on your system..
2) No clue.. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

WAY is right, that's some bullshit about the svchost.exe...Pay no mind to that...
That second error more than likely means that the program you have assigned to open those files is missing, moved, or uninstalled properly....When it comes up again, hit CTRL + ALT + DEL to bring up the task monitor...When it comes up, you should be able to identify what program that is, do a search for the exe on your PC, and uninstall it properly...
You may also want to open Media player go to Tools > Options > File Types and make sure it is the default for the file that you are trying to play...

don't know if it is your problem but found references to HP software. a couple of posts reproduced below.

I have the same problem, I opened Task Manager to try and End Process and found this conected to the hpqgalry.exe. This is found in the HP (Hewlett-Packard) directory. So, if you have a HP printer I would try reinstalling the software, or maybe the info it is looking for is on the CD. I don't know for sure I'm just figuring ths out as I go along. I'll get back to you guys.
Okay (moments later), insert your HP install disk aim the browse function towards your CD-ROM drive then go to the Setup\photogallery and there you will find the file it is looking for. Ihope this helps. CHEERS

thank you, thank you very much
had just swapped out a hhd for a machine with HP 8150 and this error started
just offed a couple of HP refs in msconfig and now the nags are gone
will either uninstall or reinstall the hp stuff for a permanent fix

Same problem fixed
I had a similar problem and it is definatly with the the HP software. After a few back and forths with HP support I finally got a reasonable solution. There are two ways to accomplish the same thing:
Insert Hp disc that was supplyed with printer.
Go to Start then Run type "X:\Photogallery\PhotoGallery.msi"
(Replace X: with the CD-ROM drive letter and leave out quotes).
Or
While Hp disc is inserted click on one of the media files that produced the error message and it will automatically install the missing file.
Hope this helps. I can't believe there is no mention of this problem on their site. After searching I found many people with the same problem.
