How much damage does some one downloading a copy of XP do. Your the computer guy , you tell me. Would a company like Microsoft feel the effects of one stolen copy of software. Im guessing it would take downloading a lot of copies for them to feel anything. Same goes if he stole ten different applications for personal use from deferent companies.
Is the application some thing he needs or wants enough to buy or is he just downloading it because he can.
I understand the cumulative effects your talking about that hurt a business but whos actions have an effect on the software company

The guy who sells pirated copies of an application to many people
The guy who creates a link so hundreds can download the software
The guy who creates a web site and allows a bunch of people to post a lot of links so lots of people can download lots of software.

How long has the dealer been dealing . How many people has he sold to.. How many times has he sold to each person

Why do you get to say it was an adult on pot in his living room and not a kid on crack at school or any other combination of drugs , people and places. Is there some new rule for dealers that says they can only sell pot to adults who take it home to smoke.
Where there kids involved and were they taken care of in this drugged state. If abuse or neglect happened because the guy was stoned how do you put a price on that.

But the same things you're saying about drugs, you could substitute in with a TON of shit that aren't drugs, or even illegal, and yet are more destructive...I can't argue w/you, cause what I don't understand is your logic...

What I am asking you, is to explain the difference in any of those things and obtaining an 'illegal' drug...And again, most of these drugs have a root in medicine...Things like heroin, cocaine, etc...Marijuana...Hell even allergy medicine...The problem isn't that they destroy lives, its people destroy themselves...Anything not taken in moderation can be deadly...
If you can argue that, then we will certainly never see eye to eye...
If you can't, then you should probably rephrase your opinion, because it outwardly reflects the wrong thing...
