Yes it sucks, but dont mourn if you think God has a plan for the world...If you do that, you are just rejoicing and praising God for things you think are good. Only God knows true good though. I am not sure if God has a plan for the world, but if I did think that, I say praise God for this. If I didn't, it would be a lack of faith spitting in his faith by questioning his divine will and judgment.

Maybe then, if a shooter comes to your school and you get hit, I'll praise God, since that's how you feel...

But I'm gonna mourn and feel for these people...

Kris, there is nothing wrong with mourning the death of others. Jesus wept when Lazarus died even when He knew that He would be raising him from the dead. Just because God has a plan for the world doesn't mean we shouldn't mourn. Just because something happens doesn't mean that God caused it to happen. He may allow it for some reason, but nothing evil comes from God. It can't because it goes against His nature.

So yes, God does have a plan for the world and there is some reason why this would happen. But, we should still mourn their deaths

Professor: Shooter's writing dripped with anger

BLACKSBURG, Virginia (CNN) -- Long before before Cho Seung-Hui's deadly shooting spree on the Virginia Tech campus, a professor was so concerned about his anger that she took him out of another instructor's class and taught him one-on-one.

The former chairwoman of Virginia Tech's English department, Lucinda Roy, said the anger Cho expressed in the fall 2005 creative writing course was palpable if not explicit.

As disturbing details emerged about the resident alien from South Korea, students gathered by the thousands in the heart of their campus Tuesday night for a candlelight vigil.

Roy, meanwhile, said the writings by Cho, an English major, were disturbing enough that she went to police and other university officials to seek help.
"The threats seemed to be underneath the surface," she said. "They were not explicit, and that was the difficulty the police had."
"My argument was that he seemed so disturbed that we needed to do something about this."

His instructor and fellow students also found his behavior in class "inappropriate," Roy said.
"He was taking photographs of students without their permission, especially under the desk," she said.
But without a clear threat nothing could be done, and Roy made the decision to instruct him away from other students.

Ian MacFarlane, who said he had class with Cho, called two plays Cho wrote "very graphic" and "extremely disturbing."

ABC News reported that other law enforcement sources said Cho did leave some kind of note in his dorm room. It contained an explanation of his actions and states, "You caused me to do this," ABC News reported.

It also railed against "rich kids," "debauchery" and "deceitful charlatans" on campus, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Cho, who moved to the United States at age 8, lived at the university's Harper Hall, Flinchum said.

"He was a loner, and we're having difficulty finding information about him," said Larry Hincker, associate vice president for university relations.

He had several police reports against him and also school crimes. He was stalking not one, but two different girls, he tried to set a dorm on fire, and he has been pulled over for speeding and such. His writings were also so horrible that he was referred to the counselor and he was receiving antidepressants.

There was WAY too many warning signs for somebody to not do something. He shot a girl and the Resident Advisor, he walked across to his dorm and sat in his room for 2 hours. Then he goes and shoots and kills at least 31 more people??

I mean really......you hate to think terrorism and you hate it for the families, but there was so many things that were missed. Even more reason to bring the boys (and girls) back home and tighten up shit here. There are too many people sitting around here waiting to blow someone or something up.

This saddens me and hurts my heart.

I would want you to praise God if I died. It is logically inconsistent to thank God for say, safe travels to the beach, and then to not thank Him if your SO died in a car wreck on way back. IF you believe in a God of Divine Will...

Yes Jesus wept and sweated blood, but he was partially human...He did have emotion...The emotion isn't the problem, but accepting it as right is just doubting God...Jesus never proclaimed that his crying was the ideal thing to do in that situation or anything like that.

Look at it this way: You are nervous before a big game. You know you should be calm and relaxed, but you can't help being nervous.

This is a similar case: Nervousness represents pain; relaxation represents faith. Yes it is hard and unnatural to have faith, but that doesn't mean it isn't right...

Call me insensitive, but I will not trade sensitivity for the highest possible trust in God (if there is a Divine Will). If I had a chance to sit down and just listen/comfort anyone who was affected in this tragedy, I would do it for AS LONG AS THEY WOULD TALK TO ME. The natural pain so many must feel who lost those close to them is excrutiating. I can't imagine going through what happened to my aunt and uncle again. But still, trust in God's plan, if you believe that (I am not going to say whether I do or not, because I am not entirely sure) is quintessential.
