I think grieving is part of being human. Where not just spirit and while were still part spirit and part human we need a way to release the pain .I dont think god would have given us the instinct to grieve if he didnt want us to. God gives us strength and comfort and a sense of hope but i dont think you should totally skip over grief to get to them¦Im not sure where I stand on the Gods plan thing but if you say everything happens because god wants it to happen exactly the way it did than you could find lots of reasons to start hating god. I think the devil is in the details

I cant help thinking that if the media didnt have this stuff on the news 24/7 after these events than there might be less of them. Its ratings gold and there going to talk about it over and over and over and over until its embedded in our brains just waiting like a seed to sprout in the next dysfunctional kid.

QUOTE(gmsnctry @ Apr 18 2007, 07:19 PM) The diff between morning for this and the problems in Ethiopia

As Sam Kinison would say 'They live in a F$^cking dessert, move somewhere else and plant food, life, etc.

The VT tragedy is not the same (Yes warning signs were given by this invidual) but the victims couldnt move, get a better education, get govt help to avoid this- they didnt continously stay living in a desert, waring, etc.

Ethiopia is avoidable not sure VT was

That is why I Mourn- I cant speak for anyone else

I have not heard of this Sam Kinison, but I think that might be the most ignorant opinion I have heard. Ever. In my entire life.

Do you seriously think these starving people are like, "you know, we could move, get a better job, establish a better culture, and thrive economically, but we'd rather just sit here on our asses and starve to death

Maslow established a theory regarding our needs, and physiological ones are the most basic. If someone can't satisfy them, I will bet you it is not because of choice.

Alright, I apologize for being so strong. I don't really know you that well but I love you I promise /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I still stand by my basic argument though.

If you truly have ultimate trust in God, bad things will not cause you to start hating him...because you will understand that they happen for a reason...And yea, I guess you could say that the grieving happens for a reason too, but at least recognize that...know that grieving is a means to revolutionary thought, not an end. Hell, I grieve and get pissed off at the world all the time. But it is just a means. I am using the pain to bring about what I feel I am called to bring about, not merely FEELING the pain. This is when I put in a shameless plug for www.truthxvision.org (not quite up yet, see truthxvision.com in the meantime!!!)

I don't recall a single person in this thread saying they hated God because of what happened.....are you using this fake little lesson based on opinions no one here expressed to justify your ridiculous comments earlier?

QUOTE(Brains @ Apr 18 2007, 01:43 PM) my condolences.

how come this kind of shit happens in the US?

@Aemeth: you sound overly zealous about christianity, god, jesus. be careful with that. knowing good from evil is not something the bible alone tells us... it is not found by having "faith" in whatever christianity (or any other religion) preaches. it is not even found by knowing all religions and what they preach. it is not taught to us by anyone - that is impossible. it is found within.

which christianity do you adher to though? roman? reformist? one or the other ministry?

Hey BRains!

Long time no see. Takes some shit going down to see BRains come round..

The reason things like this happen in the US is because we have an ideal. We give, according to most other cultures, an unprecedented amount of burden of responsibility by providing an unprecendented amount of liberty and opportunity at the same time. But this kid is from South Korea, not America. He was estranged, and he was preaparing for this since at least February. V Tech had just two weeks ago made it illegal for students to carry firearms punishible by expulsion, or he would have died at the hands of a student he killed.

Now, what I want to see is when people go "hmm, who shave their heads, and make videos of themselves blabbering posing with their weapons before going on self-destructive rampages?" Shahada Mujihadeen.

This day, also, the a japanese mayor was shot dead, and they have the strictist gun laws in the friggin world.

first person this kid shot was his ex-girlfriend...

As far as Aemeth - Aemeth is developing intellectual detachment; which is a crucial necessity to those who sek higher octaves of thought. He is coming to logical conclusions based on his profession of faith. That is a developmental stage of a very bumpy road of transformation.

QUOTE(Aemeth @ Apr 19 2007, 02:04 AM) I think you misunderstood the point I was trying to make. I was wondering how we could mourn for all the bad things happening in the US when in reality, NOTHING bad is happening at all in comparison to the underdeveloped world. Can you imagine a starving Ethiopian reading "Why is all this bad shit happening in the US?" It's such a morbid thought it's laughable /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
did I say that?

err...

no i did not. I said "how come this kind of shit happens in the US?" I am not even involving other countries, let alone talking about famine and aids. you want to discuss these, start new threads.

I am just wondering: this kind of shit happens in the US. it has before, it happened again. stories like this are rare coming from the rest of the world...

anyhows.

i do not believe in this "DIVINE, UNCHANGING AND TRIUMPHANT WILL of God". not at all and I hope you don't too. you see: it makes matters too easy for the mere mortals we are: we act good, it is because of god. we fuck up big time, it is too. where is personal responsibility? your apparent belief in a "DIVINE, UNCHANGING AND TRIUMPHANT WILL of God" is scary to say the least.

@raum: yeah. it does, doesn't it?! yet, I feel the complete western european world has more freedom than you have, but that shit does not happen here. how comes?

I myself don't see the point of the question, especially considering the fact that this guy was an immigrant...If there were hardly any instances of this thing ever, maybe...But there is violence in every country...The worse serial killers in history aren't American...Apart from Columbine and The Texas Tower sniper, what other mass murders or school shootings would you be referring to, that you could ask such a question and expect a valid answer..?

Austrian Mass Murderer Sylvestre Matuschka - ""I wrecked trains because I like to see people die. I like to hear them scream."

Crazy motherfuckers are everywhere bud...You need to either change the channel or pick up a history book if you think its just the US w/these kinds of problems...

Marc Dutroux - Kidnapper, Child pornographer...Murderer...

Charleroi, Belgium

"1996-AUG-15, the police raided Dutroux' house. They found a dungeon built in the basement from which they rescued two young girls: Laetitia Delhez and Sabine Dardenne (12 and 14 years old). They told police that they had been raped and videotaped repeatedly. At least 300 child pornography videos were taken as evidence; some featured Dutroux sexually abusing girls. The next day, police dug up the bodies of two 8 year old girls: Julie Lejeune and Melissa Russo, who had been missing for over a year. They are alleged to have been starved to death by Dutroux' wife, while her husband served a short jail sentence for car fraud. Two weeks later, police recover the bodies of two other missing girls: An Marchal and Eefje Lambrecks, aged 17 and 19. They had been buried deeply under the floor of a shack in the garden. Dutroux confessed to raping and killing them."

Yup, even in your country...

Hey Aemeth
Thanks for clarifying things. What i had a problem with was your saying....

"Yes it sucks, but dont mourn if you think God has a plan for the world"...

me¦.It sounded like you were saying that grieving should be avoided. It reminded me of Krammers (Sienfeld) "serenity now" words that he used every time he wanted to avoid dealing with stress.untill one day he just blew up..I have no problem with what you™re saying now.....

.aemeth.....And yea, I guess you could say that the grieving happens for a reason too, but at least recognize that...know that grieving is a means to revolutionary thought, not an end. Hell, I grieve and get pissed off at the world all the time. But it is just a means. I am using the pain to bring about what I feel I am called to bring about, not merely FEELING the pain.

but

aemeth......Yes Jesus wept and sweated blood, but he was partially human...He did have emotion...The emotion isn't the problem, but accepting it as right is just doubting God...Jesus never proclaimed that his crying was the ideal thing to do in that situation or anything like that.

me.....Now your back to implying grieving is wrong. The bible can be interpreted deferent ways. Jesus was our example of how to be a Christian. The lesson I get from the passage is that its ok to be fearful or be in unbearable grief because you will be separated from a loved one ( Jesus separated from god ).. as long as you ultimately follow gods will and have faith in his path. If its ok for the son of god to have emotions than i think its ok for us. I do agree with you that in our every day lives we need to allow his peace to dictate or lives and not let our emotions guide us .On the other hand in tragic situations like this i think grieving should be part of the process or you could end up like Krammer smashing a room full of computers.

At uber¦I think Brains might be talking specifically about school shootings. I think there have been 3 or 4 of these now and some that were stopped before they could happen. I would like to know if this is happening any where else in the world and if so what are they doing.

At Brains¦..I assume you live in another country so im interested in how you see this. We have always had guns and always had kids but not whats going on now. I don™t know if you have ever been here or get CNN but whats your impression of this. Do you think its just a gun thing or do you see deferance™s in our countries that you think would create this kind of problem. Im on record as saying I think the media is part of the problem but im sure it™s a combination of things

Where to start...

LG- read highlife's post. 3 before yours.

Brains- "Why does this shit happen in the US?" To me this implies "and not the rest of the world" which would be involving other countries imho. As far as the divine, unchanging will- I never said I believed it or that you should believe it, but was merely trying to elucidate the ramifications of a thought process of that nature; that is all. I will say that the argument for a divine, unchanging will may be stronger than you think. And that is in no way a "sign" that I believe in it...Just NB...

Highlife- I guess I mean to say that technically grieving is wrong, but there is nothing we can do about it but recognize it is due to our human tendancy to not trust God fully. It is natural, not wrong or right. How you perceive the grieving attaches ethical importance to it...(again, I am speaking from a perspective, this may or may not be what I actually believe)
