PC looses connection through the browser, but instant message and other clients operate normally...Problem appears on a whim, and affects ALL internet browsers, even those that are not in use...For example, midway through, Firefox will stop working, and then when you open IE, it fails to work as well...

Diagnosis..?

Haha DD...I was thinking the exact same thing
"If there were no eternal consciousness in a man, if at the bottom of everything there were only a wild ferment, a power that twisting in dark passions produced everything great or inconsequential; if an unfathomable insatiable emptiness lay hid beneath everything, what would life be but despair?"

sounds to me like a firewall/open port issue.

Is this on that crappus Vista platform by any chance?

I was thinking along the same lines as E. Something to do with the firewall and ports.

Vista is probably flooding port 80 (one of the few to always guaranteed to be open) with DRM certificate database updates. My advice: just be patient while MS finishes updating their ability to lock all your digital content should they deem it necessary.
