i've been amazed by this for years now...

look at the big rosey patch of Eurasiatic languages and blue dots of Cauco-Sinitic languages in between. these blue language regions evolved from different origins in comparison to all other surrounding languages. I still wonder what happened around these patches and when for them to have evolved so differently...

I too have been interested in the story of the Tower of Babel so to speak...The differences at times are vast, and even in close proximity of one another, the language differences are amazing...

I don't have any theories really, but would sure like to read some...
