I dont know much about the external hard drives. I have a laptop with 40gigs or so of space on it. And I want more then that so I'm looking into investing into an external hard drive.

Now I want something that I can carry around and plug it in into uni computers without having an issue and something that does not require an external power source. Im looking for something like maybe 120 gigs or something close to that.

Any help?

You can get laptop hard drives up to 250GB now. You can either buy a laptop hard disk and a USB enclosure yourself (and put it together yourself) or buy one of the many all-in-one commercial products that have a laptop hard disk already in an enclosure.

Alternatively you can just buy a high capacity USB flash stick. Depends on how much storage you need, how bulky a device you want to carry around and how much you want to pay.

Rim sent me a little drive by Western Digital, its 80 GB, and I like it alot...

The 120 GB model is $100 USD

I think you'll be pleased with it, the one I have I use like a normal drive, I run programs, games, and everything off of it...

Be careful with the high capacity WD laptop drives/units. A lot have been failing if you check the reviews.

I actually like the one A suggested. I had a look at an online auction here in NZ. The 160 gig one is selling for around $350 nz .

So I'm looking at a Seagate 80 gig one at the moment. the auction is still going and im leading at the moment hehe.
