Paint it black is one of those legendary songs that I think is hard to cover...I'd like to hear a non rock inspired version of it, like Paint it Black by Wu-Tang or something...

I actually think Gob's version of Paint It Black outrips the original. for this era anyway.
butt then again i'm convinced one can easily put together 2 compilations of Stones covers that are far superior to the originals.

I'm not actually a Marilyn Manson fan ... but for some reason, I've always loved his cover of "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)". I guess because it's so radically different from the original Eurythmics version. For me, if you're going to bother to cover a song, at least try to take it somewhere new, right?
