It's about time for me to get an external. Any new suggestions that haven't been posted here?

you'd be pretty hard-pressed in finding something external with it's own powersource or something that derives it's power from the usb it's plugged into for that price at the mo Deepak. maybe in another 6 months or so. then the credit card shaped flash drives will be goin down in $ & increasing in size capacity. still a bit dear right now.

Yeah the Elements series of external are aiiite, butt I prefer the Passport line by Western Dig better. Smaller, more compact, faster transfer speed & no external power source needed (Elements still needs to be plugged into the wall). I've already bought 2 of the blessed things. Pure heaven. If I were to go for a 1TB now with the same plug n' play that wasn't a WD Passport, I would totally grab me Iomega's 1TB eGo drive. google the fucker. they're great!

I have a passport, and you're right, its a great little drive...It's big enough that I can tote around w/o issue...It's OK if the Element needs to be plugged in...Plus, I want to be able to use it with a hub...My current laptop weighs about 20 lbs, lol...So, the size isn't really a problem...

That Iomega drive does look nice, but its like $30 more than the WD, and I'm not sure I trust Iomega more than WD to justify the price...On popular sites like NewEgg and Tiger direct, that eGo drive gets no love...Unless I'm looking at the wrong one..?

Why does the eGo get no lurve on those sites? Iomega have always come correct with badass externals. Sure, in general they cost a tad more than other brands, butt it's worth it to oprotect your files. I know of not one Iomega owner who's drive has shit itself. Ever. Practically all the other big brands from Maxttor to Seagate have had complaints.
