My Last Year Of Highschool........
This is my last year of highschool. I am kind of excited because I am getting recognized for my academics as well as my football skills, but I am kind of sad because I know it almost time for me to get my shit together. Things like trying to decide where I want to go to school at, what I want to do, and most of all seeing that it is time to get up off my momma milk...( Stop look for my mom to stop doing things for me). The things I want to know is how to be successful in college and also in life?

Re: My Last Year Of Highschool........
This year will be my last year of college (at least for a while), so I kind of know how you feel.
I would advise you to save, save, save, save, and then save. Make sure you have your grades high enough and shop around for school. Ask to meet with financial advisers in the financial aid offices and apply for EVERY scholarship you can. Pell grants, MTAG (if you stay in Mississippi), ANYTHING. Stay away from student loans if you can.
If your not sure what you want to do then get your basics out of the way your first year. English I and II, College Algebra, History or Western Civ, Oral Communications, and a fine art (music appreciation, art appreciation, etc). Almost all of those will apply to whatever it is your looking into going into. Narrow down your decision of what you want to do to and look at the programs and what classes you will have to have. Take a couple classes that are directed towards whatever major of study you are looking into.
Your High School counselor should have some tests you can take to determine what jobs best suit your personality. Good Luck!
Most of all.......have fun. Your Senior year is supposed to be fun, so work hard, but remember to play.

About the best thing I would say is to really, not take life too seriously...That doesn't mean don't focus, but you're about to be exposed to an entirely new reality...Give yourself room to grow and mature, don't be so focused on having so many set goals, or living up to expectations...
Learn to discipline yourself...That freedom that comes after high school can be overwhelming if you don't have an idea of how to get things done on your own...Nobody is going to force you to study...Nobody is going to tell yo that you can't go here or there...You just have to decide that what you want is worth more than a vice...
My last year of high school was amazing...Don't rush it..! The next step you face will determine what you become in life...

Amen... High school was one of the highlites of my life.
Set reasonable and attainable goals, but as uber said dont forget to have fun too.
It is a BIG Adjustment for many even those prepareds for college and the real world.
Get a good support group of friends, family, etc to keep you on the path but also as a sounding board, relaxation help, etc
My mom is one of my best friends keep that relationship strong -- you always want to make 'em proud but its also your life
Good luck.

I guess I always pictured myself being rich and famous... Matter of fact being more than rich and famous... More like being wealthy and always being remembered... I will like to thank you all for saying to enjoy life because I can see myself being a workaholic...

i heard this a lot but college is a big difference from highschool, academically at least. u think u have a lot of freedom but don't be fooled you gotta keep ur head in the books or GPA will drop
but for the whole college thing, be sure to take ur time and enjoy ur college experience.

I would suggest to start with the minimum full time hours your first semester till you get used to it.

Re: My Last Year Of Highschool........
It can vary and depends on how good your organization skills, study skills are and whether you need to work while going to school
Can you manage a minimum hrs (and or a P/T job), middle or maximum hours (18 I think)
ie Mon- ROTC 8-9, Poli Sci 10-11, Speech 1-2, West Civ 3-4; Tue- ROTC lab 8-9, Mu Theory 10-11, Stu Engin 12-2, Math 4-5; Wed- Speech Lab 10-11, Poli Sci 1-2, Guitar 3-4; Thur Ele Edu 9-10, Eng Lit 12-1; Fri ROTC 8-9, Stu Engin Lab 1-2, Piano 3-4
This was my soph year schedule (Major in Music Engineering Minor in Music Ed with ROTC also) -- coulndt find my Frosh year (plus I spent too much time partying; the women to men ratio was 7:1 :hypno: plus we were a pl**boy TOP 10 school my freshman year)
Its mainly what courses are you interested in, can you mange the stop and start schedule (its not 8 hrs of school in a row-- much time to get sidetracked with the gaps in times), and can you afford not to work? (I was lucky I was already in the Army Reserve so I had $$$ coming in - I did Basic between Jr and Sr year in HS, graduated early went to AIT (advanced training) then to college fulltime for two years then did 16 yrs active duty US Army while finishing my degrees)
