Re: The Dark Knight
I kind of am. I love how it looks as if they're making the Joker look full-on crazy and fucked up. I enjoyed Burton's take on Batman himself, but I was never really happy with how he cast Nicholson as the Joker, and made him this goofy guy with a big pot belly.

Re: The Dark Knight
I think this one is going to be better than the first, really...This is probably an instance where a sequal learns from the mistakes of the previous movie and improves upon them...And with so much to go on, so much material and content, it should be really hard to fuck this up...

Re: The Dark Knight
I'm curious what you thought the "mistakes" were for the first movie. Overall, I liked it, but walked away not 100% satisfied, and I'm not entirely sure why. I keep meaning to rent it and watch it a second time, so I can nail down what didn't work for me. I know that part of the reason was the length -- it went on a bit too long to sustain the energy. But I feel like it had to have been more than that.

Re: The Dark Knight
Well, I only mean in general, I loved Batman Begins...I meant it in the sense that was sort of the reestablishment of the franchise, so things they want to improve upon they can do it...We already know what rocked out, which was giving these characters a heavy dose of reality...
After seeing where Batman came from, I imagine they're going to do the same w/the Joker, and that's probably going to be the heart of the movie...

Re: The Dark Knight
i personally hope that they continue to make The Batman the focus of this reboot. we all know what happened with the last lot where it was all about the villain every film.
not that i had issues with Pfieffer in the Catsuit. ;)
though i was read something disturbing checking out a few sites 2day. apparently we are to see TwoFace at some point in the movie & also 80s teen star Anthony (Weird Science,Breakfast Club) Michael Hall's character is named Edward Nigma a/k/a The Riddler's alter-ego. not big on the multiple villain mash-ups for the big screen. they tend to take away rather than add to the film. see Spidey 3 as an example or Batman & Robin. i'm really hoping they just leave it at Joker & Scarecrow (who apparently shows up for a bit).save the transformations to villain of the other 2 for the 3rd chapter.
EDIT: American audiences for The Simpsons Movie will be apperently given a teaser trailer for The Dark Knight.
i'm fucking jealous now!

Re: The Dark Knight
The math is clear ...
Batman = Batman VS Joker
Batman Returns = Batman VS (Penguin + Catwoman)
Batman Forever = (Batman + Robin) VS (Riddler + Two-Face)
Batman & Robin = (Batman + Robin + Batgirl) VS (Mister Freeze + Uma Thurman)
... adding increasingly more characters does NOT improve franchise. :)
Hopefully this time around, the director plans to just introduce Edward Nigma, but not the riddler?

Re: The Dark Knight
What they could be doing though, is paying homage to the old TV show maybe...Several of those episodes, and especially the movie (which I think was a hit) featured multiple bad guys and even in cahoots w/one another...
I'm hoping for a bad guy birth for much of the same reason I enjoyed watching Batman begins...It took the original story and exploded on it, giving it much more depth...The insane for the hell of being insane take on the Joker could definitely use some life...Of all the DC characters, I think Batman has the most ridiculous foes, but a or modern take on them...A proverbial face lift of sorts would make the movies much more relevant...
