Rest assured: Mike Vick will redeem himself.

He found the first key already:

"I'm upset with myself, and, you know, through this situation I found Jesus and asked him for forgiveness and turned my life over to God. And I think that's the right thing to do as of right now. "

/vick's a whimp.

I would prefer if he just said, "Damn, jus' dogs. Dog's been killed in Korea and vietnam and Thailand for years and no one wants to stop them or put them in jail! Does The value of animal life vary with Latitude and Longitude? Ya'll let your kids play pokemon all day, and don't once think about the reality of arena animal fighting, which occurs worldwide. In real life, pikachu bleeds. Ya'll see us men get put out on the arena until we put to pasture, and half of you don't even send a card when we bust a knee! Ya'll a bunch of hypocrites!"

I would disagree but at least he would be standing for what he did.

On a broader subject, what ever happened to the UNREPENTANT criminal who simply believed his actions were not wrong? Or the unapologetic criminal who knew what he was doing was illegal but didn't care?

Drives me NUTS when these assholes suddenly find religion only after getting caught. They think that we'll all say, "Oh, Vick found Jesus now, well, we'll be 'Christian' and forgive him now." I'm not going to say whether or not he actually was remorseful (other than getting caught) or if he found God, or is a better man now than the one they dragged into the pokey. I will say that he's got a LOOOOOOOONG way to go in my book before he redeems himself in my eyes.

Whether or not it happens elsewhere in other cultures, he knew damned well it was illegal here in the states. He knew it was wrong in the eyes of the great majority of his fans. He knew that he had lowered himself to the level of the dregs of our society when he committed these acts. With that being said, I do hope he has had a change of heart and will prove to himself and his fans that he is a bigger man today. He can start by donating a large chunk of his money (if he has any left after the Falcons take back their $22 million) to the Humane Society or the ASPCA.

How are killing animals for food be classified as something a criminal would do? I've been to Vietnam and dogs are meant to protect the family or be eaten (as my aunt said, "the ugly ones get killed for food.") Although respect for animals may be something else, killing animals for food isn't something to be punished? Cultures vary and what some may deem to be food, another culture may reject it because of different values. Dogs, I am personally 50/50 on because I am basically Americanized but I mean, animals ARE a source of food and so.. something has to be done for a meal.

I just think that animals should be appreciated as living organisms or food and not be used or disrespected.

I was in no way trying to say that killing animals for food is bad or wrong. I am not a tree-hugger, and PETA pisses me off royally. I like a good rare steak as much as the next guy and the thought of Bambi in my crosshairs does not make me weep. I have and do kill for food. It's the killing for sport that upsets me, whether it's an elephant in Kenya, a deer killed merely for its rack, or a dog or rooster in a game fight.

Say this with me guys...

22 million...

Twenty Two fucking million dollars...

22,000,000...

Now, God knows I'm not a saint...But I can fucking promise you...If I has anywhere near that much money, the last thing I'd be doing is fucking fighting dogs..! Anything illegal..! Man, fuck King the neighborhood German Shepard...I mean, I'd probably have my issues with infidelity...I'd be ignorant buying more cars than I can drive...In Vegas for days at a time doing God knows what..A ridiculous ass house...But I can fucking promise you this, I'd be fucking walking on toilet paper clean...People do illegal shit to get money, so what the fuck are people with money doing illegal shit for..? How stupid do you have to be..? Al Capone was the Cappo di tutti Capi of all of Chicago, a professional criminal, and they could only get him on a bullshit charge...

If you're the #1 overall pick in the NFL draft, a gifted athlete, and fucking FILTHY rich...You don't get a charge, period...I hope they throw the book at his ass...

Oh, did I mention he's a snitch..?

I did not mean to imply that these cultures did anything wrong, just something illegal in this country. Illegality is not universal. I was just trying to make a point that I personally would at least respect a man who stands up for what he did, even if I think it is wrong, or it is illegal here.

To me the issue is the amount of pain your putting the animal through. We dont eat dogs here but eating them for survival wouldnt be as bad as getting them to rip each other apart just for kicks.

me.....Agree with that 1000%. Why risk it.

me......Hunting is ok. I dont hunt but i dont have any problems with it except for killing predators like wolves or mountain lions. On the other hand big game hunting is good in a way because it brings money into Africa . Its used to protect the animals from poaching which can do a lot more damage. And dont get me started on black bears.
