Deer-Plane Crash Is Costly

PROVO, Utah — A plane owned by Utah Valley State College sustained $50,000 in damage when it slammed into a deer during a landing. The Diamond DA42 Twin Star hit the deer at 1 a.m. MDT on August 22, said Mario Markides, UVSC flight operations manager. As part of training, pilots fly at night. The deer died.

"The big problem is you can't swerve," Markides said of seeing deer on the runway at the Provo airport.

The airport is near Utah Lake, in an area where deer find food and shelter.

"Wherever you provide habitat for an animal, they find that niche," said Craig Clyde, wildlife-program manager at the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.

Another problem: When deer slip through the fence at the airport, they often become trapped and can't get out, he said.

You'd be surprised...Crafty, and extremely retarded animals...If I never saw another deer again, I think I'd be OK...Here, they are fucking everywhere...I saw a deer downtown the other day...It seems like they make it their business to be as close to cars and vehicles as possible and then run out into the fucking road...There is a wildlife refuge near by my mom's house, and I see at least three deer everytime I go down...Casually hanging by the fucking road, ignoring the 1,000 acres of habit to cost you $1,100 in damage...

Dude, totally the shit they do...I've hit deer head on, and even had deer run into the side of the fucking vehicle...I love to see deer hanging from trees headed to the dinner table...They are as tasty as they are stupid...
