New oil find in Colorado

• 500-times as much oil as Yemen

I'm not so sure why its hard to believe...Agreed, that may not be the most reputable source, but at the same time, that's not news that you broadcast everywhere...Most people are ignorant, and don't even know how to handle information like that...I say we wait and see...

Oil Shale deposit has been known for years. It costs a boat load to refine, but with todays price of oil makes it cheaper to our ears. Anyways, using all of the crazy Arab's oil is a great idea and afterwards they'll only have rugs to offer the world (and terrorism).

Its also environmentally devastating to produce, and requires lots and lots of water-- which Colorado doesn't have.

Producing oil from oil sands or oil shale is a combination of the messiest aspects of strip mining, followed by the water pollution of gold/lead mining. At $100 a barrel, its certainly economically feasible, but it will destroy a lot of beautiful country.

actually, we are almost proven on these reserves as well as the ones in Nevada. they were SUPER hush hush about them since we discovered them, and since their proofing, I have been working HEAVILY in the oil portion of the energy industry.

oil independence is almost a reality... and is feasible as early as 2009. and furthermore we have evidence that more than 16% of what we consume will be RENEWED~!!! by time time we need it. We are hesitant to call oil a renewable resource, but only because we haven't pinned down how long the renew cycle is.

HERE IS WHAT HAPPENS:

Oil is not all dinosaurs. What you were told is not the whole story. In addition to dino-oil, there are lots of toher things happening, such as Microbes that grow in certain layers of the earth's subsurface and are superheated to a carbon rich paste that is cooked and refined and accrued by the shifting of tectonic plates. This is exactly what happens when someone gets "fluid" in their knee. The resevoirs are still developing as we speak, but not at a static or universal rate. There are parts of Lousiana that have completely renewed and exceeded the original discovery. If we can lock this down, we can GROW fuel.

There *might* be test facilities where this is being done right now, but they are, um, *would be* super hush-hush, and I cannot confirm I know where any of this is being done.

The Rockies Express Pipeline, set to begin service in January 2008, will help move Colorado’s rapidly increasing natural gas production to markets in the Midwest.

Colorado’s oil shale deposits hold an estimated 1 trillion barrels of oil – nearly as much oil as the entire world’s proven oil reserves. However, oil production from those deposits remains speculative.
