Re: Justice League
IESB:
“The cast for Justice League is mediocre, the execs know it’s mediocre, it’s going to go down to wire on this one, this movie cold be huge but right now it’s plagued with a couple of big issues and the WGA strike isn’t making things easier,” our source tell us.
So what’s the final verdict on Justice League? I was having dinner this evening when I got a call from one of our moles over at Warner Bros. who told us, “Justice League has been pushed back to at least April or May and possibly a start date as late as June or July…that is of course if the movie doesn’t get scrapped altogether.”
This is the only good news that was left for the satchel of mistakes known as Justice League. If they put this garbage in the can and return to the drawing board - we can hope again that perhaps, one day we will see a quality JL picture. This movie’s progress has infuriated fans at every step like no movie I have posted about (save for maybe G.I. Joe) and it is glorious that the people at the helm may have the sense and foresight to stop this trainwreck.
i hope this news proves true.this crap has been a mess since they announced it as a live-action movie.i too say go the Batman Vs Superman route & do a cinematic version of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. that’s assuming Miller licensed the rights out. i can see Rutger Hauer as the gritty aged Batman. cannot yet think of who would play Supes. i do not think ageing Routh would work. strangely i can picture Pierce Brosnan as an aged Superman. if he buffed up a bit. Before i get any snide comments, picture Brosnan’s mug with a Superman haircut like Routh’s. his non-fakesounding American accent is just fine too.
as for the other JLA’ers, i say stick with the original plan & film Joss Whedon’s Wonder Woman. who cares if most of it takes place in WWII. she’s a fucking Amazon & they age well. i believe there was mention that the script ending has her in the here & now. let Ryan Reynolds do The Flash (especially if the Namor movie has been canned) as intended & go from there as far as bringing in the other league members. done now.

Re: Justice League
Hmm...Definitely something to think about...And I don't even think that I've read that novel before, I need to get my hands on it...I remember there was a scene in the Superman/Batman series where they kinda went head to head, and it was great to read...But I'm not sure that it would make such a great movie...Though I would love to see the wit side of Batman showcased, unlike Superman is primarily depicted, Batman beats most foes with his mind...Batman has been depicted thus far as being more physical than anything, when the truth of the matter is that he's extremely cerebral...

Damn Ube, you ain't never read Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. it is a seminal CLASSIC in the truest sense of the word. in fact it set the template for the way sucessive writers handled the Batman & set the tone for the grim &grittier comics that came after it like Wolverine,Deadpool,Punisher & even that other CLASSIC graph novel,The Watchmen (currently being filmed by 300 director Zack Snyder). you gots to head to a comic shop & pick up a reprint. it was set in a future not unlike what we are living in now. that book is 21 years old yet not dated in the least. GO! killl if you must. i'd love to hear your thoughts on your beloved Kal from that book..

Final Justice League Decision Tomorrow?

If this Blog post from Entertainment Weekly is true, we would probably either see a full cast announcement on Tuesday for Justice League or hear nothing at all until after the writers strike. The problem is, if the below is not true and we don't hear anything for a long time, fans are still going to assume the studio didn't give the movie the green light:
Holy work-stoppage, Batman! The ongoing WGA strike now has Warner Bros.' superhero bonanza Justice League of America in its crosshairs. A source tells Hollywood Insider that filmmakers would like another script rewrite and are now debating whether to begin shooting without one. The studio has a Jan. 15 deadline to either greenlight League for a spring production start -- meaning a summer '09 release -- or push it into the post-strike ether. (Warner Bros. had no comment.) All seven superheroes have been cast -- among them, Adam Brody, according to one report -- but it remains to be seen whether they'll get to fly this year.
We'll let you know if anything happens.

According to IESB, this report was indeed accurate. It looks like Warner Bros. Pictures made the decision yesterday to put George Miller's Justice League on hold until the production can do a script rewrite after the writers strike ends. Reports had said the cast was on location and the crew was ready to go if they had been given the green light.
The site says that the production will have to wait until at least June, but if the writers strike (and possible Screen Actors Guild strike) continue for a long time, it could be much later.
Warner Bros. Pictures had yet to officially confirm any cast members for the superhero team-up movie that is expected to include Batman, Superman, The Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman and the Green Lantern.
Thank Fuck!

Re: Justice League
the great apocalypse moveth forward:
Full Speed Ahead for Justice League
Source: Variety
February 26, 2008
Now that the writers strike has been resolved, Warner Bros. is pushing ahead with its plans to make Justice League in time for a 2009 debut, reports Variety.
Warners tried to get the big screen adaptation into production earlier, but put it on indefinite hold in January, allowing the cast options to expire. At the time, the studio said it didn't want to move ahead until the screenwriters had another shot at the script.
Writers Kieran and Michele Mulroney are busy polishing up the script, which is expected back at the studio in several weeks, and the cast has been advised to keep training for their superhero roles. Director George Miller is in pre-production in Australia.
Adam Brody, cast as the Flash, is the biggest star in the superhero lineup. Rapper Common nabbed the Green Lantern role; other roles went to lesser-known actors such as Armie Hammer Jr. (Batman) and Megan Gale (Wonder Woman).
The trade adds that Justice League, based on the DC Comic, is a huge priority for the studio and considered a launching pad for future superhero projects down the line.

I'd rather see Routh and Bale as the leads but I say give the movie a chance. X-Men hardly had any stars in the movie and that turned out ok. I think having this many characters is usually a problem but still can't wait to see Megan Gale dressed up as Wondy....Mmmmmm Megan Gale... :p

Re: Justice League
I can only hope you're right darklighter, but my gut tells me this movie is going to really suck. The project just seems so rushed as opposed to the years of development behind Batman Begins or Superman Returns, where the studio went through several scripts and directors before getting it right.
I don't get why they're trying to get this out in such a hurry. Brody as the Flash? Let's be serious, does Adam Brody look like a superhero? What happened to Ryan Reynolds as the Flash - who has both the funny charm and the build to play the character. Plenty of others reasons as well to be pessimistic if you ask me.
