OK, check this out tech squad...
When my laptop is plugged up, and I plug something into my SPDIF port, I get a shitty interference signal...Noise, and its ridiculous...It doesn't matter if my laptop is plugged into the wall, surge protector, or otherwise...Now, what I can't tell, is if it does it when there are headphones plugged in...So far, it only seems to do it when I have it hooked to my surround sound system...
Any ideas..?

Hehehe couldn't help but think it's Fista playing funny with your sound output i.e. fuzzying it up as part of the DRM.
Otherwise no idea sorry. SPDIF and optical Toslink is as clear a signal as its going to get...

Re: SPDIF Noise
Yeah, I thought it may be Vista also, but when I was troubleshooting it and unplugged it use a different cable, that's when I realized that it was only when it was plugged in that it made the noise...
I'm not even sure what part or piece goes on and off when you unplug the thing that would even interfere with it like that...Certainly one of the strangest things I've had happen...

Yeah that's odd.
If you plug some other SPDIF device into the amp does it still make the sound? Just wondering if it might be your amp doing it rather than the laptop.

Re: SPDIF Noise
Nope...I switched it from the amp, to the surround sound and everything else, still no dice...And I checked my cables by plugging in my PSP, which gave a clear and undistorted signal through both systems...Hmm, but what I didn't try was pluggin in the PSP when I did it...Maybe I'll try that...

Re: SPDIF Noise
Just thought I'd give an update on this...
I've fixed the problem...I'm still not sure what caused it, but here's what I did...Before, I had the spdif cable directly to my sound mixer, which output to the amp, which output through the speakers...
What I decided to do was take my spdif cable through my home theater system, and then run a piggy back cable from there to my sound mixer...No noise..! I'm now blazing my neighbors with all my favorite jams, w/all 8 of my speakers...Holla!
