the thing that shits me is that they are making this JLA shit w/out any regard for their 2 existing Superman &/or Batman franchises & acting like they don't even exist. i would get it Batman Begins & Superman Returns sucked, but they didn't. i think Marvel are doing right by their characters & slowly mixing them in with each other like having cast members from Incredible Hulk appear in Iron Man & vice versa. ditto for having Samuel Jackson appear as Nick Fury to tie in both. Apparently they'll be doing the same for the Sider-Man & X-Men franchises once the rights revert back to Marvel Studios from Sony & Fox respectively. Warners & DC are fucking up bigtime.

What happened to Ryan Reynolds as the Flash - who has both the funny charm and the build to play the character. Plenty of others reasons as well to be pessimistic if you ask me.
agreed. the way they are doing this, i'm expecting an emo version of JLA for fans of the OC,Smallville & Dawson's Crack.

Someone explain this to me:

What was exactly wrong with Daredevil?

Am I the only person decently versed in comic books who thought that was fun? I know it wasn't the whole story, but damn if Ben Affleck didn't seem blind,.. and more than that HE WAS A PERFECT Matt Murdock. The Story was far better than most superhero movies before it, and they really nailed a good BullsEye, and I even liked the way they demonstrated Daredevil's power. It, to me, reflected more that Matt was a mutant whose power was activated in his childhood. I have heard everyone hate on this movie, but never heard from anyone WHAT there was to hate, except noone would ever fit the Kingpin's physique so they got the biggest dude they could find who was already camera proof.

That's the same answer I always get:

Affleck was good (but I don't like him), the movie was bad. "Don't get me started" - nah, man... "get started."

And I am not talking about Elktra, that was pathetic. Why was Daredevil bad?

... get started! ;)

ok,butt it's 6:37 in the am here & i've been up reading Hulk comics all nite so instead of me giving longass drawn out sentences i'll give it to ya in point form:
*Ben Asslick as Daredevil (not Murdock) - just his using that Keaton "I'm Batman" voice on/off was so cheesy i needed crackers.

* that costume - a bondage queen's dream cum true. 'nuff said. he got the role cos his buddy Damon smartly turned it down.

*the miscating of Garner as Elektra. c'mon! the character ain't known as a longwinded talker. they didn't need a thespian for the role. just someone who look damn good & show a lot of leg. they shoulda got Asslick's actual gf at the time to do it. Lopez has the looks & bod to wear that traditional red outfit. butt nooooooooo, they went with ol' manchin herself.

*the look & sound of the film. hello! hello! The Crow had already accomplished the dark n' rainy city thang. it was also overly loud with bland raprockmetal blaring at least every 5 minutes.

*the blatant Fanboyness of it all. namedropping past & present writers & artists into the story. if not, giving the high profile ones (Kevin Smith & Frank Miller)cameos so they don't slag off the movie. which Miller did anyway.

*the action scenes. what kind of movie is it that has the best action being playground foreplay?!? & the two leads are jumping around & performing feats like they're in The Matrix. DD & Elektra ain't got no super-powers yo!

*was this a leather-clad chickflick or a comic-book movie?!? both versions of the films couldn't seem to decide. the editing & pacing was shitty with no flow whatsoever. so many storylines cut in half for the theatrical version, a lot of people didn't know what the fuck was going on.

i mean really?, how can one enjoy something that's supposed to be brainless entertainment with all of those annoying distractions for people to notice?!? that piece of shit makes 1997's Batman & Robin look like it was Schindler's List.

btw, all the things listed above were mostly not my complaints. they were gathered from talking to a diverse bunch of friends about it over the last several years. ok done now.

I liked the Daredevil costume. Honestly, a man with horned tights on has to have some kind of dignity. First part, Daredevil IS a batman knock off. He was designed to steal Batman readership. He is even Blind as a BAT for christ's sake!

He was gritty and it was rainy, and FRANK MILLER did that all the time. That was what made Daredevil sell at all. That is what Miller took to Gotham when he left for DC.

granted, there is some oddness about Murdock in the movie, but that to me was perfect. You ever read Miller's Daredevil? He could tell how many grains of salt there were in a pinch from the sound of them grating against each other. He could count beans in a jar from shaking it ONCE.

He had to act somewhat estranged, just like him needing sensory deprivation to be able to sleep was perfectly established.

elektra was a train wreck. no one could ever do her justice. she would never fit on the screen and she would never be movie potential without dialogue. Much like anyone thinking daredevil could make it to the big screen in red tights (or blue and yellow) and pointy horns with a big DD on his chest.

Face it, they needed to give Daredevil an origin and a motivation, and the only other way would be able to watch a blind kid go to law school and get trained by a blind martial arts mentor that would be as generic as every other fortune cookie spouting "mentor".

For what it is worth, I enjoyed Daredevil...I didn't get why people were so upset about it...I mean sure, it could have been worked a little more, but so much of it I thought was cool and well done...The suit Ben had on looked like the suit I recall Daredevil wearing in the comics...I thought they thing they did with his 'sight' was awesome...

I don't know much about Electra, didn't really dig the movie, but Garner is eye candy fa sho...That was enough for me...

I always thought that Daredevil's super power was related to his eye sight loss...He lost the eyes, and everything else got an upgrade...

I would rather watch Daredevil than many of the Marvel films I've seen before and since...I'm usually a pretty harsh movie critic, but I think for some reason, this film got a bad rap...It had some cheese, but almost all films in the genre do...
