speaking on downloads, i'd like to know something: i read somewhere (i forget which section) that there is a reason you prefer us sticking d/l links in code boxes. Why?!?

It usually prevents generating a referrer, and too, eliminates some common posting errors...I usually don't do it for my GigaSize links, but for my RS links I do...It makes it easier to copy and paste the links into rapget for multiple links...Maybe you've noticed that the forum automatically shortens links, so if you have say, 7 links for a movie, you have to right click, copy link location 7 times, and then paste into rapget...When you have them in the codebox, a quick copy past is all you need...

So guys, I'm sitting here thinking...

I like MediaFire...It's probably my favorite host out there right about now...But I'm scared to death to use it, cause its totally free...There isn't a premium option in sight...And it has outlasted DivShare and most other sites in that regard...I do not know who started it, or how deep their resources are, but I imagine that if I did, I'd feel better...

Anway...

I'm thinking...Would it be wise for those of use uploading stuff to use a single account..? If in the event that they do offer or are forced to offer a premium, by using the same account, we may be able to save soem face...The downside to that is that we host a ton of shit there, and they do the same thing that RS has done to me...Or, we can all use seperate accounts and hope for the best...I don't even see anything in their blog about a potential premium option...That's great from a user POV, shitty from a traumatized file uploader like me...What do you guys think..?

If they decide that they want to start charging, then me, or us together can pick up the tab...We all keep our files and everyone is happy, as opposed to them saying, OK, we now have to delete files off the server that haven't been dl'd in 30 days unless you have a premium account...

So, if premium accounts are $15 a month, we spend $15 as a group, instead of $15 a piece...

The problem I see with using Mediafire exclusively, while arguably one of the best file hosting sites available, is the fact that it restricts 'certain' files.

It does not allow pornographic content of any kind on its servers, and it checks quite routinely to route out what files that contain such sexually-charged content. I uploaded quite a few files over my love-affair with the site, yet all files are now gone, even those uploaded less than 2 months ago. Also, if that wasn't enough, it also prohibits using password-encoded files to be uploaded, so if you were thinking of protecting the file by not being able to allow access to its content without a code, the administrators of the site delete such files upon finding it.

So, while I still have a free account to Mediafire, I don't see myself using it anytime soon, other than to share a few mp3s here and there, but still, Divshare does a better job at that.
